DAYO"S ANGEL

Rain poured on the busy street, she had no umbrella, just a little bag that contained her

belongings and her last money on the other hand. She had no where else to go, no one to turn to, but she chose to stand strong in the rain, hoping and crying silently that God would send an angel.

The girl who stood on front of the coffee shop was Moyosola, she was tall and slender with a beautiful light brown complexion, her eyes were large and brown, her nose was sharp like an arrow, her lips were pink.

Moyo was an orphan, her parents had died in a fire, she still remembered the night, she had no siblings, so her Aunt had taken her in. Everything had worked well, till her aunt's husband started making advances towards her, she couldn't take it no more, and she knew sooner or later, the man would have his way with her.

"Better late than never" she inhaled deeply and stared at the skies, the rains had ceased, it was time for her to make the next move.
She had no friends too, her Aunt had been very strict and she didn't mix much with people, though she had just started a course at the University of Lagos.

Her heart sunk as she thought about school, now she had eloped from home, who would pay her fees?.

She swallowed the pain that fogged her throat and stepped into the streets, there had to be a way out, but one thing was sure, she wouldn't return to her aunt's place.

Lost in thoughts, still shivering from the rain, Moto moved across the road, without looking,
The sharp pain from the bumper of the black jeep that stood proudly brought her to the ground and people rushed to her aid.

And you know you're not very consistent in posting, do you fink you can handle it? Just go one by one, in no time you'll finish posting all. But opening four threads at a time and hardly posting in any is somehow

thats very true. She ought to have a routine of posting. Maybe Ikada, on Mondays, House of secrets on Tuesdays, Love sick writer, Wednesdays and Dayo's angel, Thursdays. We'll understand

"Oh my God" he brought the car to a halt as he realized he'd hit someone, he'd been on a call with his friend and had failed to see the girl that had crossed.
A crowd had gathered round her, he took a deep breath and stepped down from the car, he prayed she wasn't dead, he couldn't have blood on his hands.

" I am so sorry" Kayode whispered as he neared the slender girl, her eyes were weak and she bled from the ankle.

"Oga next time, look your front wella" a rough looking young man cautioned him.

"Thanks" Kayode whispered and knelt beside the young girl. He didn't know why, but he felt drawn to her immediately their eyes met, it seemed she was a magical creature and he was bound to her.

Her skin was light brown and creamy, her eyes shone like a thousand diamonds, but brown ones, it was her lips that gained his attention, the pinkness and plumpness of them.

"I am bleeding sir...." Moto managed in a weak voice, the man seemed to have forgotten she was still in pain, his eyes were fixated on hers and it seemed he was lost in another world.

"Oh, I'm sorry about that, I'm so sorry I hit you, let's get you to the hospital" Kayode examined her ankle briefly. She seemed okay, but he needed to ensure she was safe, he suddenly felt possessive, he wanted to protect her, even in the confident glow in her eyes, he saw fear and uncertainty.

"Thank you" Moto whispered, still scared, the man looked harmless and kind, was this her angel?
He helped her up and into the car, she prayed silently all went well, but there was still another problem, she needed a place to rest her head.

"So what's your name? I am Kayode, " Kay" for short" he smiled at her.

"Moyosola" she replied and glanced briefly at him. Kay wasn't too handsome, he was far from it, but there was this aura that surrounded him.
He was short and stout, with a dark brown complexion and beady eyes, he also had a goatee.

"Nice name, I am really sorry I hit you okay? I promise to take good care of that leg and you too" he winked, he was already hooked to this one and he had to make her his'.

"Thanks" she murmured.

"So we are here, this is my friend's place, he is a medical doctor, he would know what to do" he killed the engine.

" Okay " Moto replied hoping she was safe.

Kayode helped her once again out of the car and they both strolled inside the mansion. She scanned her eyes round her environment, whoever lived there was a very rich person.

"You like it here"? Kayode asked, he could see into her thoughts.

" Yes, it's really beautiful " Moyo smiled for the first time and this pleased him very much.

"Then I guess you would love my house" Kayode smiled.

They had almost reached the front door when a deep baritone interrupted them, they both turned towards the direction of the voice.

She trembled as her eyes met with this good looking stranger, in her twenty three years on earth, she hadn't come across a man like that.

Kayode quickly noticed the change in her and felt slightly jealous, he'd been friends with Temidayo for a long time, and had never felt jealous of him, but one look at Moyo's features crossed him greatly and he knew he had to fight for this one.

"Hello there" Temidayo sauntered close to his best friend and a very attractive lady, beautiful was an understatement. Kayode always had taste when it came to women, and he wasn't surprised his friend had quickly moved on after his break up with Ememobong, his ex girlfriend.

"Dayo, we have a problem, I need your doctor skills right now, this is Moyo and I hit her accidentally, she is injured" Kay explained carefully.

"Accident eh"? Dayo smiled and winked at his friend. The girl in question was in pain, as a doctor, he could sense that, she looked so fragile and he wished he could take her pain away.

" Yes, please hurry" Kay pleaded.

"Alright Moyo, give me few minutes, let me get my first aid box, it's going to hurt a little but I promise you'll be okay" he smiled and flashed a dimple.

"Thanks doctor" Moyo's heart fluttered at the sight of his dimples. He was so cute, so angelic.

"Call me Dayo" he winked and rushed inside.

"You'll be fine okay" Kayode patted her shoulder and she nodded.

"Where's my darling"? A female voice called.

" Adaeze" Kayode smiled as the light skinned beauty approached them.

"Good afternoon madam" Moyo greeted and suddenly felt inferior to this sophisticated beauty.

"He went inside" Kay replied curtly and she ran inside without hesitation.

"Who was that"? Moyo blurted out and regretted her question, why was she concerned? She didn't belong there.

" Adaeze? That's his wife" Kayode replied and her heart sank.

"His wife"? Her thoughts echoed and the beating of her heart scared her, the realization of Dayo's marital status touched her and got her more confused. Why did she feel that way for a complete stranger?

" Are you okay"? Kayode smiled and shifted close to her, he did not like the look on her beautiful face, her eyes had lost their shimmer and her lips were tight.

"I.. I am fine" she stuttered.

But deep down in her heart she knew she wasn't, this feeling was alien and very strange.

He quickly gathered his first aid kit, ready to work on the angel he'd seen outside, he felt curious, to know more about her, how had Kay gotten that one? Her face was already etched in his mind and he felt bad, she haunted him.

He had been friends with Kayode for a long time, they were brothers, they lobed each other and shared everything, never had envy come in between. He hated this feeling that crept up his spine, one that craved for Moyo's attention, he inhaled deeply and rose to his feet as the door flung wide open. He needed to push his vile thoughts aside, he had other things to focus on, Adaeze for example.

"Darling, who's the girl with Kay outside? I haven't seen her before" Ada asked sweetly, the girl was almost perfect and this got her scared.

"I don't know, I'm about to find out, make sure you take your vitamins, I'll be back smallie" he patted her head and rushed outside.

"Really"? Ada's eyes twinkled wickedly, she decided she didn't like Kayode's new girlfriend very much, only one thing had to be done. She also had her interests to protect.

" So where were you headed"? He tried to chat her up, he couldn't let this beauty slip from his fingers.

"Uhmmmm, home" Moyo lied. What else could she say? She didn't have a place to stay and she didn't want to burden anyone, she had already stressed him, it was partly her fault that he hit her.

"Home? Where's home"? He pressed on, he noticed she avoided his eyes when he asked, she seemed evasive and this interested him the more.

" So here we are, time to treat that leg" Dayo's voice intruded them once again.

"Doctor...." Moyo smiled as Dayo neared her, completely ignoring Kay's question.

"Yes? Princess, i need to give you a tetanus shot, so your wound does not be infected" he replied. Her smile had pricked his heart, it was so genuine, so pure and he wished he could have that every day.

" Thank you" Moyo smiled and prepared her hand for the needle that he stuck out.

"So Moyo, I hope Kay isn't giving you much trouble, he's a very mischievous person" Dayo winked at his friend.

"Trouble"? Moyo arched a brow not following his cue.

" Dayo...." Kay drawled, he knee what his friend was getting at and he wasn't ready to tell him a thing, if Dayo knee the Truth, that Moyo wasn't his girlfriend then that could jeorpadize his plans.

"Sorry bro" Dayo sighed and focused on Moyo's slender legs.

She loved the way he worked on her, the way his gentle hands brushed her skin, their eyes had met severally, but he was always the first to look away.

She felt stupid, what exactly was she thinking flirting with a married man?

"You need to bring her in a week's time for check up at the orthopaedic ward, but right now, she's fine" Dayo rose to his feet and flashed her a smile.

"Thank you very much Doctor" Moyo stretched her leg and realized the pain had lessoned.

"Dayo..." He chipped in and she laughed, both men fixed their eyes in them, her laugh sounded like a carol on a good Christmas afternoon.

"Guys, food is ready" Ada joined them, she had a better view of Kayode's girlfriend, she was pretty, and from the way Dayo stared at her, she knew he liked her.

"Sorry, we'll be leaving immediately, thanks Ada, take care of !y friend" Kay rose to his feet, he couldn't prolong their stay there, it would ruin his plans.

"Why the hurry? Don't you want to eat at my house?" Dayo turned to Moyo.

"Uhmmm" she licked her lips, her mouth felt dry as she stared at both men, if only they knew her problem she needed shelter.

"We have to go Moyo, come on" Kay helped her up. She was a bit surprised at his authoritative tone, he seemed angry about something.

"Bye doctor" Moyo smiled and waved the woman who had completely ignored her.

"Bye dear" Dayo waved back. Something wasn't right, Kayode was hiding something from him, he was sure of it.

"You like her" Adaeze said as Kayode drove out.

"I don't " Dayo replied, he couldn't like his friend's girlfriend.

"You do, but she isn't right for you, I don't like her, she seems evil" Ada replied.

"Slow down baby sis, that's Kay's girl we're talking about. Now let's go inside and eat, we need to see the lawyer tomorrow".

" Where is home"? Kayode repeated, he didn't plan on letting her out of his sight, he was just curious.

"Home is far from here" Moyo replied, still unsure whether to trust him or not, what if she told him she was homeless? Would he help her?

"Alright, then you would spend a few days with me, till you're strong enough to travel, is that fine by you"?

" Yes " she quickly nodded, that sounded perfect, she would stay with him and see how she could get out of her situation.

"Alright darling" he smiled, he had his plans and she would be his' by all means.

"His wife" the words rang in her ears, she tried to think about other things but Dayo still found a way into her heart.
She hoped and prayed within her, that she wouldn't fall for a married man.

"Make yourself at home, feel very comfortable and relaxed, let me prepare you something to eat" Kayode rushed into the house to prepare her a room.

Moyo nodded silently and scanned the whole the living room, he was right, his house was really a paradise. They'd journeyed from Dayo's place for an hour plus, she was glad they'd finally arrived, at least, she could rest her head and worry about the days ahead. Kayode had offered to shelter her for some days before she embarked on her journey "home".

She dreaded the day she'd have to leave back to the streets, what if she just opened up to him and told him the simple truth? That she was homeless and had no place to stay.

" What if"? Her lips moved as she caressed a fine still life painting, The walls of the living room were brightly colored, a fine beige hue, illuminated by blue chandeliers and pictures graced it.
She laughed as she watched the pictures, from his childhood to his adulthood, his whole life could be followed on the wall.

"Do you like it"? He'd been observing her for some minutes, he loved the way she laughed.

" Uhmmm, yes I do" Moyo sighed and faced him, she had begun to relax in his presence, he really meant no harm.

"I prepared a room for you, come see" he beckoned to her and she followed him.

"Thanks so much" she smiled, he was really kind. He'd dressed the bed and placed a tiny puppet on it, she wished she had such a room for herself, buy her aunt's husband had ruined it all.

"I should get you some food" he said and walked towards the door.

"I don't feel like eating" Moyo called after him. Thoughts about her dillema had resurfaced and she suddenly lost appetite.

"Why? Are you upset with me"? He rushed to her side.

" No, why would I be"? She narrowed her brows.

"So why are you rejecting dinner"? He asked.

" I am not hungry, thanks very much for everything" she insisted.

"Okay then, darling, do you mind taking a cup of tea"? Kayode asked.

" No problem" she replied.

"Do you hear that"? Moyo heard someone screaming, whoever that was, was seriously upset about something.

" Excuse me, let me handle that" Kayode peeped outside the window and felt his heart race, why did she choose to show up then? He'd already set his plans in motion and her presence would ruin everything.

Moyo quickly rushed to the window, she wasn't a fool, Kayode was hiding something from her.

He'd rushed outside to meet her, what was she doing in his house? She was his ex an he had not set eyes on her for six months.

"Where did you hide your bitch? I need to see her right now" Emem yelled angrily.

She'd been in a relationship with Kayode for six years and he'd broken up with her on her refusal to abort his pregnancy.

"What are you doing in my house? "? He asked coolly. Emem was his ex and he didn't regret his action, she was not good enough for a wife.

" I need that girl out here, as you can see, i am heavily pregnant for you, i also have with me,a weapon i would use on youand your LovePeddler, so i need to see her now" she fetched the Ak47 from her purse. That did it, that got his attention, he couldn't let anything happen to Moyo, he had to save her.

"Emem, please put down that gun, don't do anything stupid, please" he begged.

"I like the way you sound, just bring the girl out here and i promise i wouldnt pull the trigger" she poked her head sidewards,

"I swear to you, she isn't my girlfriend, i hit her by accident and i had to take responsibility, she's innocent, don't hurt her please" he fell on his knees.

"I see, you really love her so much, to cook up such a lie, you think I'm stupid? I just want her out of this house, right now" Emem thunderec. Adaeze was right, Kayode had fallen in love with this girl, but she couldnt take that chance, he needed to marry her and take responsibility for her pregnancy.

"Moyo" he rushed into the house to fetch her. He had a better plan, he wanted sneaking her into a room, then he would call the police later.

"I am here" she replied with tear filled eyes, she had heard their conversation, she was unwelcome there and she needed to leave.

"I promise, i wouldnt let her hurt you" he assured her.

"No, i need to leave, i saw her eyes, she is going to harm me, if i stay here, please let me go" tears streamed down her cheeks.

" Moyo please, listen to me! I can handle this" he held to her hands.

"You've done enough, thanks very much, at least, i can walk now, I'll try and find my way" she replied defiantly and rushed out of the house before he could reach for her.

"Moyo wait" he called after her, but it was too late.

"I hope you're happy now" Kayode walked to where his ex stood after Moyo had left the house.

"Of course i am happy, i just took back what is rightfully mine" Emem smiled mischievously.

"I would never forgive you, if she is harmed" his hatred for her was renewed.

"I don't need your forgiveness darling" she patted him on the shoulder and walked into his house.

What had she done to deserve such hatred? She swallowed, the street was dark and eerie, maybe she should've listened to Kayode, but that in itself was risky, what if his crazy girlfirend found her and murdered her?

She refused to cower, to wallow in self pity, she still prayed for her angel.

She paused in her steps as she reached a church building, she scanned her environment carefully, she hadn't walked too far from Kayode's house. She sighed and stepped closer to the building, it was dimly illuminated but she was still able to see the sign board.

"Dayo" she whispered his name as the wind began her sojourn that night, only his name brought her comfort, only that name soothed her pain.

She heard some footsteps around, she flung her eyes open, but it was too late, she felt a hard object crash into her skull.
