This is a very apt and thoroughly researched answer. In summary you nailed it. The money spent by would be attendees registering and buying flight ticket would be better spent in Africa. We are complaining of poor forex earnings and low fdi and some persons can still cough out $500 for conference registration. This raises a flag. Also the issue of content on the website is another flag. I doubt if genuine attendees to standard and recognised technical conferences organised by IEEE and SPE would be denied visas. It may be that the conference is actually a means of fleecing would be attendees who also have sinister motives beyond attending the "conference".

Dude, this is a fairly young summit. It's not as established yet so I doubt if they have acquired the sophistication or have the clout for that yet.

Dude, i said in my earlier post that only the wealthy and large multinational companies can afford to send there people on some trip to a far flung corner of the world. The small to midsize to small companies won't. Why would i want to risk exposure to countries with political instability, weak laws and infrastructure.
