Unfortunately, some of these cars may not have proper insurance. I think Nigeria should start thinking in line with what is being practised in USA where each State has its own minimum car insurance requirements in place.

Most Nigerians do not know road rules, signs and markings.
Even the FRSC don't know their job, they don't even know if lack of putting on seat belt is more dangerous than using expired tyres. Many traffic offenders.
Tired drivers speeding with people on the roads and all you hear is 'this guy sabi drive oh'
2 people killed in the UK and hands are on the deck, the PM, the parliament, everyone. Our dearest president within the shortest time leaped to send messages and calls across to the British PM and people. 52 people were killed in Benue and our president said nothing and did nothing, NASS is busy fighting Ali over uniform and raising tribal marks issue while people are dying everywhere.
Went for a visit at the City Uni. Of New york, three people died from road accident (not student) and the school was shut for 3 days.
They value life but here 'na only 3 die'. Those 3 might be someones benefactor, parent, child, lost due to recklessness.
May God help Nigeria.

Bad roads and high speed coupled with carelessness and alcohol by some drivers.

Still remember my trip to anambara state 3yrs ago which I boarded young shall grow bus. The driver was very drunk to the extent that he bashed two cars on the road and we all had to beg for him. Finally he started sleeping while driving. Thank God I was sitting in front with him, you need to see the kind of heavy blow wey I give am for face when I see am dey sleep, sharp sharp, the sleep clear for him eyes.
Let's be watchful of the kind of buses we board, and always pray for God's protection too

Impressed with NBS for sharing this vital information. The FRSC should up their game to reduce auto-crash on our roads through proper orientation for road users.

I agree with you.... However let's encourage Highway drivers to install speed limiters too. It can also help to reduce auto crash.

Re: Nigeria Recorded 11,363 Road Accidents In 2016 — NBS by PapaBrowne(m): 10:01am On Mar 25, 2017
There is a cultural component to driving and road accidents. And part of that component has to do with family structures.
The South East and South South have by far the lowest number of accidents and the North west has by far the highest. Bayelsa 79 vs Kaduna over 2300.

I travelled from Kaduna to Kano by road a few months ago and had my mouth open in constant fear. Those drivers care little for their lives. Probably because they have no love from anyone and love nobody.
In the South, family structures are closely knit, hence drivers operate with the knowledge that they have a family awaiting their return and this reflects in the relatively reduced number of road accidents

With this high rates of accident, what is the essence of having road safety corps if they cannot do anything about it. I suggest FRSC should be scrapped as soon as possible.
