“It was a sad weekend for the family of the Imo State Deputy Governor, Mrs Ada Okwuonu, as the official driver attached to her husband was shot dead right inside their compound in Ezinihitte Mbaise by one of the mobile police men assigned to her husband.

The late driver, who was identified as Emma Acholonu, hailed from Owalla Uratta in Owerri North LGA of the State was allegedly shot several times on his chest by the policeman during an argument .
Daily Sun gathered that the ugly incident occurred while the Imo State number two citizen was marking the one year memorial ceremony of her late mother and setting up a foundation for both parents.

It was learnt that late Acholonu collapsed and died on the spot after the “mad police officer” emptied his bullets on his body with an AK47 gun.
The incident, Daily Sun gathered created big panic among the guests who came to grace the occasion as some of them hurriedly left the venue before other armed policemen over powered the erring cop.

Mrs. Okwuonu, who was sighted at the multi purpose, centre Owerri, on Monday, during the official presentation of staff of office to 10 traditional rulers by the State Governor, Chief Ikedi Ohakim, sat quietly throughout the event.

When Daily Sun visited the country home of the late driver, in Owalla Uratta, sympathizers trooped into his compound, raining curses on the police officer that killed him. A member of the family, who decided not to have his name in print, told Daily Sun that the family had not been officially communicated over the death of their late uncle.

Meanwhile, the police officer who shot late Acholonu has been detained at the police headquarters, Owerri while the corpse of the deceased was deposited at the Federal Medical Centre Mortuary, Owerri.”
