Doriana2: Sorry you didn't look at the part where I said "there is a reason for this". Do you even know what the job of a legislator entails. I'll explain in simple terms why BSc will never be a prerequisite. As a legislator, you are chosen by your people to represent them. That means majority of your people want you. You can't tell the people who to like. The reason why the SSCE is required is because it is assumed that with that level of education, you should be able to communicate effectively with Nigerians. That is why even with the SSCE your grades are irrelevant. The legislators discuses issues with their people, and they and their people collectively take a decision and he presents that decision on the floor of the house. What is tactical here that a graduate should be called in? Its like you don't know the function and reason for tertiary education. I believe you are still a student, don't worry in some years time you will laugh at yourself for what you believe today. Good leadership is based on experience not some paper certificate. Moreover if this kind of law is even allowed to stand it will further destroy the educational system. 2 Likes 1 Share |

That tells us that certificate is not prerequsite for success in life. Besides, there is no political and constitutional constraint to being a senator with a third class. It is nigeria private sector that place more emphasis on first class and second class. Hence, how to maximise profit is their goal focus. |

Doriana2:You graduated means you can answer questions that have a solution. Being a leader is a whole different level. Judging leadership qualities based on academic excellence is the height of stupidity. You might be a graduate but you are not smart 1 Like |

Its your opinnion though but you should learn to be more rational in your approach of disseminating it.whats wrong with the grade??the college drop outs in U.S that made billions are they not better off, most of politicians of the old some of them never stepped into tertiary institution yet they excelled politically and even you making this post with your good grade what positive impact have you made smh for you.you are still an african that has inferiority complex in its mindset thats why you cant grow beyond where you are.what qualifies for a good leadership is not the education but your innate ability to set goals, taking your followers along equally and achieving it.there are people with 3rd grades that are better than first class i can tell you that very well.in my days in university of ife i had a lecturer who made 3rd degree and the other 1 first class you wont believe that people love the 3rd class lecturer cos he teaches effectively than the bogus 1 st class lecturer..was it because of the degree?no the leadership that was lacking..oh boy get up and stop thinking like the way your ancient fathers does life is more than that 1 st class degree you carry and it doesnt determine good leadership. |

@op ur write up is ur opinion and I respect it. however,I believe it's flawed and can easily be rubbished. let's start by asking ourselves who a leader is... a leader essentially creates an inspiring vision of the future and motivates people to engage with that vision. you do not need to have the best grades from a university to inspire change or manage people effectively. some individuals are born with leadership qualities while other had to acquire it. I have met quite a few 3rd class graduates who are sound intellectually and given the opportunity can contribute meaningfully to any government or organization, under no circumstances should they be sidelined. clarity, devisiveness, courage, passion and humility are 5 qualities of a great leader...a 1st class degree has nothing to do with these qualities quite frankly it's similar to financial intelligence. some semi literate individuals have an enviable degree of financial intelligence(they can spot money making oportunities easily) as opposed to lots of 1st class graduates who seem to only be interested in gathering knowledge and not neccesarily converting it to financial freedom. |

sammhi:are u serious? Intelligence involves the ability to adapt to one's environment and the capacity to learn from experience. The lady and anyone who thinks she is intelligent belong to the same class(the unintelligent class). In psychology there are different kinds of intelligence: Social and emotional intelligence inclusive. It's obvious you guys are fresh graduates or better still undergraduates. I'm not a third-class degree holder, but I have to let you understand, what you think you know is wrong. 1 Like |

Academic excellence is overrated , being a 3rd class graduate doesn't mean you're dull. A whole lot of the so called 1st class graduate can't even defend the result they hold. A notable example is Prof Whole Soyinka. He graduated with third class yet he lectures scholars around the world. Leadership doesn't have anything to do with school grade ! 2 Likes |
