Good day house,

I got a V/W Passat 2007 less than a month as (this is my second car) and I'm really not happy to have taken such decision. I stay around Surulere axis of Lagos which is close to where you find dealers of the car spare part.

1. I decided to work on the AC because it regulate itself, my AC specialist made it know that the compressor is automatic and he will need to make manual, after swindling me for a while (25k), he made it know that I need to change the compressor @ 35k, before he finished installing the compressor he demanded for another 30k for a built-in- condenser which I obliged him. To my surprise the car AC is far from working till now.

2. The fuel gauge is not working well, so I decided to take the car to where I can get the spare part in Surulere (iyana-itire). my front man has boasted a lot about a particular guy who specialised in fixing fuel gauge, only for me to be swindled as well, this really got me annoyed because I didn't know when the fuel in the tank got finished and it led to me buying another fuel pump of around 35k.

The bitter truth is that I've not enjoyed the car from morning to night and this saddens my heart. I intend to travel with the car to Ibadan this coming weekend but I don't have the confidence that all will be well during the journey.

Please is it that the car does not have a second hand value or I have not met with the right guys to work on it, better still may be I should sell off.

Please advise.

Thanks

I recommend you Ignore any Volkswagen product for private use as far as Nigeria is concerned especially the luxury ones.

Most of them will frustrate you. Please sell that car or get ready to spend money that can buy you a new one on it.

The only Volkswagen vehicles I know are doing well here are the commercial ones.

Did you buy the car as Nigerian used, if the answer to this question is yes, kai i hate naija used passat all those who bought the naija used i know end up selling as scrap as its a bit complicated machine

The passat has a very bad second hand value especially if it has been abused you could sell that 07 for 200k grin if it has been badly abused and in a state of kamatossis esculentum tongue

the issue the vehicle has is actually the owner, who decided to be smarter than VW engineers and started remixing the car parts, if i were you, i would first tell the mechanic to fit back the parts he removed (thats if you even remembered to collect it after changing) then look for someone driving same car or knowledgeable about cars and let him put you through how to take care of your car.

the white man used that car for 10 years and it still solid, you have not even used it for a year and you are already butchering the poor thing.

you can chat me up, let me try and redeem your car with proper guidelines on how to maintain it and help assist you on troubleshooting before you tell the mechanic the exact thing to do. I am not a technician though but i have a bit of car knowledge also if you are financially down now, i advice you just store the car for now, cause VW doesnt allow one bit of shortcut in fixing it.

It's a very sensitive car, when it is in top shape, you'd enjoy it, so much power... one major problem with this Passat is the fuel pump, however if you can afford to buy genuine one you're good to go, but if you can't you can get good Japanese pump and it is fitted into your casing and that also works too.

As per your A.C., best you revert everything to factory specification and start from there.
