If one thing the America military attack against Syria did, is the confirmation that North Korea desire for manufacturing nuclear weapons stem from fear of an invasion and believe forcefully unification by its Southern neighbour and it allies.

The North reaction to the airstrikes confirms my long held belief that fear is the reason behind it desire for manufacturing of nuclear weapons.

A spokesperson for the government on Saturday in relation to US attack, said the strike vindicated the country’s decision to develop its own nuclear weapons programme.

"The reality of today proves our decision to strengthen our military power to stand against force with force was the right choice a million times over,".

Technically, the North and South Korea is still at war. The war which ended on an Armistice Agreement brokered by the United Nation and the Soviet Union, has since 1953 when the agreement was effected, seen some skirmishes but not lethal between the South and North Korea.

The war which began when North Korea invaded South Korea, saw the United Nations, with the United States as the principal force, came to the aid of South Korea, with China coming to the aid of North Korea, and the Soviet Union gave some assistance.

Korea was ruled by Japan from 1910 until the closing days of World War II. In August 1945, the Soviet Union declared war on Japan, as a result of an agreement with the United States, and liberated Korea north of the 38th parallel. U.S. forces subsequently moved into the south.

By 1948, as a product of the Cold War between the Soviet Union and the United States, Korea was split into two regions, with separate governments.

Both governments claimed to be the legitimate government of all of Korea, and neither side accepted the border as permanent. The conflict escalated into open warfare when North Korean forces—supported by the Soviet Union and China—moved into the south on 25 June 1950.

The war which is still technically on, though has seen the region witness a relative peace, took a new turn when the Soviet Union collapse gave birth to new a paradigm shift in the North. Thereby creating a new thinking and rules of engagement in Pyongyang.

The collapse of Soviet sent shivers to Northern rulers. There was palpable fear, and you wouldn't blame them, as no major backer existed except China, who by them was still finding it feet. Fear enveloped the North with America continuous Sabre rattling, the joint annual military drills between the Americans and South Koreans troops, plus South Korea manufacturing of nuclear weapons - all were of no help in dousing the growing nerves in Pyongyang.

The annual military drills was basically said by the North to be a Pretext for the invasion of North. It contributed to the North Korea demand for military grade A equipments acquisition and manufacturing of nuclear weapons, which recently saw them develop Hydrogen Bomb, which is said to be more lethal than A-Bomb.

A mad man is at the helm of affairs in Pyongyang, he got nothing lose. Civilians lives doesn't mean anything to him, or is the destruction of North going to affect him.
Diplomacy should be giving a chance, Attacking the reclusive North may spiral into a more bigger war the South and its backers wouldn't had bargain for, as Kim Jong-Un since becoming President has shown no shyness of eventuality in using his stockpile of weapons.

The uncanny America President seem not to understand this.
