my 2003 honda pilots has two warning lights on

the check engine and vtm-4 light

i haven't gotten round to taking it to someone with a pc, but i gogled it, and apparently the problem is a defective 'egr valve'

so where can i find one of these, and how much does it cost?

As for the EGR, make sure that the hose that connect the EGR is not loose, cracked or broken. You can also remove the EGR and try to clean it and see if it will do the trick. They usually have soot deposits in them and cleaning out the diaghram can make them work well again.

However, if all else fails, pls keep us posted on the issue, lets know how you fair out.

But you will have to pull the codes first to be sure.

It might be possible to try cleaning the EGR and Idle air controler with a throttlebody cleaner.Honda and Acura are notorious for EGR problems.

The cost will be in the $400 range, which is why I stick with American vehicles.Remember to pull the codes first.

My honda Pilow 2003 is having this same problem, the DTC code is P1491 (EGR Valve Lift Insufficient), i can see the VTM-4 light and check engine alarms. I trust I may have to clean the EGR valve. Please can you tell me how you were able to resolve this problem on your pilot and the mechanic involved.
