I'm actually surprised at the figure. I'm sure the true figure is closer to 82 billion. I mean, that's how Nigeria works, 82 million must be a typo. Let this World War 3 begin already, make we see if all the loot go buy their lives.

they say 84m

okay now lets multipy it by 2 than add 3m as logistics fee

than 1m for recording purposes

then 6m for miscellaneous

then 20m for maintainance

so roughly 195m

we know how the system works

The system has CHANGEd with APC and Buhari fighting corruption.

No difference = Change.
The more things change the more they remain the same

Oga, they didn't dash the companies the money. FG paid for the transport and the companies won't charge passengers again. Now let's assume the average cost is 1500 per passenger (remember some buses were for foreigners and some for first class). They lifted about 700 passengers a day and airport was closed for 72 days. 1500×700×72 is already about 75m ( the average cost must have been higher). So the cost isn't as ridiculous as it seems. Also, SR comparing the cost of this rehabilitation to the cost budgeted by the last administration for a new runway is sensational journalism
your calculation is wrong, for the six weeks 591 passengers were transported to and fro. please do your calculation again. that's more than hundred thousand naira per person.

This govt just needs to decentralized. The too much free money at the centre so they spend without thinking of the numerous needs in other parts of the country. Where I stay, all the federal govt roads are abandoned completely and yet they are spending our money ferrying their wives and kids to and fro from the airport.

APC is the same as PDP

84 milla?

It's good to be a friend to the government.

Werethe passengers ferried free of charge? Azin, the FG paid on their behalf?

Ayaf lost understanding ooooo

Yes. After all those passengers paid taxes as part of their plane ticket money.
And na FG go close airport. So it is only fair they contribute towards the passenger's elongated journey.

Oga, do you fly the Lagos- Abuja route? 590 people in six weeks? So each aircraft that flew had how many passengers? Some airlines have as much as 8 flights to and from Abuja per day. Please read article again, this time without bias.

That is sensational journalism. I knew some will fall for it. One is repair, the other is another runway entirely. Not saying the cost is not exaggerated though.

How does 6 weeks translate to 72 days?

sorry 42 days. My mistake. means the average cost per person must have been very high. About 2,800 per person. The first class cabins and the one carrying foreigners must have made it high

Highest cost on projects in Nigeria is really where the corruption war need to be focused. Our challenge is not just corruption per say.

Is it he FG's responsibility to provide shuttle services between the airports?

When the other imports were shut down for maintenance no such thing was provided.

It's not about what 82m could do for the country but getting priorities right n timely.

There has always been good buses plying that route. The story indicated that the money was shared amongst 3 transport coys. Nothing was said about security escorts n homely treatment being part of the 82m

I think giving out 82m for 3 coys just to lift passengers they're still gonna charged is not clear enough.

Note that I'm not anti-government
you guys just look for ways to blame the government everytime, the government provided comfort and security for all the travellers to make up for the inconvenience of closing the Abuja airport, do you know the kind of risks the travellers would have been exposed to if the government just left them to fend for themselves? with terrorist and kidnappers lining those routes, how do you define a caring and responsive government, you should learn to give kudos to the government when they try to do things right, and stop all these blanket criticism.

You did not read before commenting. Yes it was free and it was shared between transportation and security logistics.
Ideally, the FAAN should bare the cost but since they remittance all money to FG (TSA). FG has to pay.
I think it is reasonable.

What I missed out was the fact that the fare from Kaduna to Abuja is free of charge. I thought the passengers still pay but someone has clarified that.

I read the thoroughly but cldnt found where it as stated that passengers fees have all been taken care of.

Thanks for your contributions

If this figure is easily known, how come we are still not told how much of our $$$$$$$$'s, Buhari spent on his health tourism jamboree ?

Enough of praises of the soon to be reopened runway.

Is it proper for an international airport like that of Abuja to have one runway?
Is that the best practice?

And do we have a guarantee on the durability of the repair carried out?

We can't continue to be celebrating mediocrity

Praise the government for the kind gesture due to inconveniences it must have caused to the pasfesengers.
They should have ferried the passengers via chopper shuttle .

When I read things like this I'm always glad GEJ was booted out.

The rehabilitation of the runway alone gulped N5.8 billion (about $18.4m), a far cry from the initial N63.5 billion (about $425m) the government had aimed to spend on the construction of a second runway for the same airport in 2010.
