OPEN GUTTER PARADE.

WHERE ARE PEDESTRIANS SUPPOSED TO WALK ALONG THESE PRIMITIVE ROADS?

WHERE ARE THE SIDEWALKS?

ARE PEDESTRIANS NOT NIGERIANS?

WHY MUST THEY BE CONFINED TO SAND AND GUTTERS?

THESE ANIMALS RULING THE SOUTH EASTERN STATES NEED TO GET WITH THE 21ST CENTURY.

GO AND TAKE LESSONS FROM AMBODE IN LAGOS. HE'S YOUR JUNIOR, BUT HE'S MILES AHEAD OF YOU INTELLECTUALLY.

DUMMY GOVERNORS, IT'S NOT ONLY TO LOOT AND BANK YOUR MONEY OVERSEAS. AT LEAST WHEN YOU VISIT THAT OVERSEAS, TRY AND PICK UP ONE OR TWO THINGS THEY DO THERE TO MAKE LIFE BETTER FOR THEIR PEOPLE, AND APPLY IT IN YOUR OWN TERRITORIES. YOUR BRAIN IS THERE TO BE USED. IT'S NOT FOR DECORATION.

SHUT UP.... I'VE BEEN IN CONSTRUCTION SINCE BEFORE YOU WERE BORN. THERE IS NO PROVISION FOR SIDEWALKS ON THOSE ROADS, UNLESS THEY PLAN TO DEMOLISH THE ADJOINING HOUSES, WHICH THEY DON'T. SECONDLY, SIDEWALKS ARE BUILT SIMULTANEOUSLY WITH THE MAIN ROAD, NOT ''AFTER'' THE ROAD IS BUILT, IN ORDER TO KEEP COSTS DOWN. THERE IS OBVIOUSLY NO PROVISION FOR SIDEWALKS HERE..

Calabar and Lagos understand that pedestrians matter, and must be catered for in a civilized society.

These are innermost inner streets, stop comparing it with major roads. Major roads reconstructed in aba came with covered drainage and sidewalk

Dude, stop this nonsense. It doesn't matter if it's a city of 20 million, or a town of 5,000 people. Whenever you build a road in an urban or residential area, you MUST build pedestrian sidewalks alongside the road. This is the way it is done all over the world. Motorists do not have superior rights to pedestrians. Roads are meant to cater for BOTH motorists AND pedestrians. We need to rid ourselves of the mentality that sidewalks are some sort of luxury. They are not. They are an essential part of urban infrastructure in any society.

ALL roads and streets in urban/residential areas MUST have sidewalks.

Sidewalks are not meant for just ''major roads''!!!!

And innermost roads doesn't deserve drainage and sidewalk for people to walk on?

Below is Ijede in Lagos state, it's not even a local government.

Something else that needs to be realised is that not building sidewalks has economic costs in the long run. It kills tourism and commerce, and leads to ill health.

Tourism because tourists do not want to come out of their hotels and be jumping gutters, and walking through sand and weeds, so they decide NOT to visit your country at all. Commerce is ruined because the public are discouraged from doing window shopping, with the impulsive buying that comes with that. This amounts to countless billions in lost revenue for businesses and taxes to govt across the country. Health is affected because the human proximity to putrid, open gutters, must take a negative toll.

We must do better.

Is it that there are no qualified engineers and town planning professionals in the entire Abia state civil service or are walkways and drainages a sin in Abia state? This same Ikpeazu mixed mud with cement to construct roads in Aba and the roads had no walkways or drainages.

Ikpeazu is a very wicked man. He wants okada to kill all those living in that street? You come out of your house to collect breeze and one okada clears you.

Anyway, I hope Ikpeazu puts electric poles also so that the residents can also use the poles to dry clothes.

When you have a governor who was washed in goat blood before he took office, you keep having this sort of stupid governance. Ikpeazu is building roads when he has refused to pay workers over 10 months salaries while pensioners are owed over 15 months. How will they afford fuel or T-fare to drive on these roads?
