Colonel Dangiwa Umar (retd.), says Colonel Sambo Dasuki, former National Security Adviser (NSA) is being witch-hunted - The colonel said it will be impossible for Colonel Dasuki to receive a free and fair hearing - He said Goodluck Jonathan's decision to concede defeat has been rewarded with disrespect and derision by the Federal Government NAIJ.com learnt that Colonel Dangiwa Umar (retd.), a former military governor of Kaduna state, has called on President Buhari’s led federal government release Colonel Sambo Dasuki, former National Security Adviser (NSA), insisting that his continued detention without trial is undemocratic. Colonel Umar made this call in a statement issued on Sunday, according to Sahara Reporters.

According to him, it is over a year since the three courts, including ECOWAS Court, granted bail to Colonel Dasuki. The colonel said it will be impossible for Colonel Dasuki to receive a free and fair hearing "The Federal Government has, however, refused to release him, citing the untenable excuse of the grievous nature of his offense. Our extant constitution is quite clear on this issue. The Federal Government does not have the power to determine which offense is bailable or whether an accused person is deserving of bail. It should therefore obey courts’ decisions and release Colonel Dasuki without any further delay," said the former military governor," he said. NAIJ.com learnt that the colonel said it will be impossible for Colonel Dasuki to receive a free and fair hearing. He further claimed that Colonel Dasuki’s is being witch-hunted as a result of his support for former President Goodluck Jonathan. "He has also the misfortune of having served as National Security Adviser to the much vilified Nigerian President of Ijaw extraction. "Colonel Dasuki’s fate is tied to that of his former principal President Goodluck Jonathan, an honorable and patriotic Nigerian, who conceded defeat and congratulated the winner of the 2015 presidential election, General Muhammadu Buhari, even before INEC declared the final results, when he could have held on tenaciously to power as is the norm in many Third World countries," said the former military governor.

Going further, he insisted that Goodluck Jonathan's decision to concede defeat has been rewarded with disrespect and derision by the Federal Government. "President Jonathan is the most maligned Nigerian former Head of State. Colonel Dasuki is paying dearly for his loyal service to this patriot. "All well-meaning Nigerians must speak out against his unfair and unlawful treatment. We cannot afford to remain neutral in the face of this monumental injustice. "When one Nigerian is unlawfully detained all of us must have the moral consciousness to feel psychologically incarcerated," Colonel Umar added. The former governor, however commended the war on corruption but said the president must make it a comprehensive one. "For the war to be meaningful and sustainable, it must be elevated beyond a President Buhari personal struggle to a national one. "Most fair-minded Nigerians are no more impressed and are indeed skeptical with the conduct of this government’s anti corruption war which appears to be aimed at the neutralization and destruction of the opposition," stated Colonel Umar.

This is the same man that became very critical of obj govt when he was unable to get "free" money to develop his ostrich farm and very silent when the nation was being milked dry for 6 yrs most likely in cold complicity.

Yes, Dasuki supported GEJ, but defend him on the allegation for which he is being arraigned and stop playing the ostrich (your bird).

Many GEJ's supporters are freely going about their businesses.

Umar Dangiwa, your sudden outburst is very suspicious.

Some investigations are in progress, stop jumping the gun.

All these gimmicks won't be tenable if investigation reveals that you participated in yam-eating.

There are alot of innocent people too in prison for not committing any offence. Again if a whole national security officer can't use funds provided for him to protect us he is a true enemy of the state. It is a very sensitive position so get it right. He is a lucky man if I was the one he would be dead by now.

Trump gave an executive order that banned Muslims from certain from entering the United States over a certain period of time.

A minor judge in a minor court in a minor state overturned the ban.

The US Federal Government obeyed.

If court orders aren't obeyed, it calls for anarchy.

So what are you saying?

If the court remanded him in jail, should the government appeal?? What if the government say they want him free and the court said otherwise?

Always obey court orders.

If you disagree with the court, you appeal. That's why we have several tiers of courts.

What you said is what happens in illiterate and backwards countries... ooo, I forgot...we de Nigeria.

Obeying court orders only make sense in a clean judicial system, not in a country like ours whr the Judiciary is the greatest enemy of justice. They are the real reason why FG disobey their orders cos of their corruption infected judgements, cases that are obvious,u stil see them conspiring with the suspect to evade punishment. Let the Judiciary purge themselves of corruption and orders will be obeyed.

Well first of all, Nigeria is not america. Our laws, constitution, culture and court system are not the same.

Secondly, there is nothing like "minor court" or "minor judge". Hawaii is a full fledged state of america and has its star on the american banner. So please educate yourself before u come online to spew ignorance.

Still on ur ignorance, I hope you are aware that there is a valid court order upholding dasuki's detention

It baffles me when people who can barely afford three square meals, have no jobs and spend longer periods out of school than in school, come out to express support for looters of our common wealth and thieves. What a pity!

We are on a forum having a mature discussion and you take it personal by insulting me...what exactly is your gain?

Can't we have a robust discussion where we can maturely have disagreements without resorting to attacks on people we don't even know??

I can't respond to you because it won't be worth it.

Have a nice day.

Listen to yourslef. You can as well abolish the judicial arm of government because they are corrupt (according to you). Tell me of an arm of government (executive, legislature or judiciary) that is not corrupt in the current democratic regime before I give my verdict on my assessment of your IQ. Mind you when I say executive, that includes the chief corruption fighter (Buhari) himself.
