• Emperor Yohannes IV

He was the first and last Tigray origin emperor of Ethiopia.

He was a hero emperor, who defeated foreign invaders (Egypt, Italy and Mahdist Sudan) to keep Ethiopia independence.

In 1889, during the battle against the Mahdist, he was shot and died the next day. The Mahdist soon found his body and decapitated his head. They took his head to Sudan as a trophy.

He was a hero both at the battle of Adwa (1st Ethio-Italy war) and at the battle of Tembien (2nd Ethio-Italy war). He was killed by a mustard gas bomb dropped from an Italian fighter plane. The Italians soon found his body and decapitated his head and thrown the remaining body from a cliff named "Gudguda". The body was found by a few farmers and was buried. The Italians put the decapitated head in ice and sent it to Italy, so Mussolini and other fascists can enjoy it. After the Ethiopia was liberated in 1941, he was honored the first Lieutenant General rank in Ethiopia history by emperor Haile Sellasie.
