The suspended Secretary to the Federal Government SGF Babachir Lawal was on Thursday absent at the Nigerian Senate ad-hoc committee on Northeast as members commenced an investigative hearing into circumstances surrounding his suspension

The Committee had on Wednesday sent a letter to Lawal inviting him to appear before it today for questioning over allegations of fraud levelled against him.

The lawmakers gave Lawal up till 12noon and went into a closed session but he failed to appear. He was said to have chased officials who went to deliver an invitation to him even as he absented himself from the investigative hearing.

Due to his conspicuous absence, the Senate Ad-hoc Committee vowed to submit its final report at the plenary next week.

You investigated this same SGF before and submitted your report to the President. Even though delayed, Mr. President has suspended him and he's now being investigated by a committee led by the VP.
What's the essence of another Senate committee investigating the same person and issue again? If it's me I won't bother showing up to this waste of time.
