Fading Ethics The Elders of our land who Understand the ageless parlance and panegyrics Our customs and traditions cert’ to wane While being eroded before your very eyes The creed, ethos and morals you’ve embraced tight At the prime of your sagacious life To me I pray heed Give counsel, make the new ones yield Tell them life is more than what they see Advise their unripe men not to parade themselves as ancients, Trudging with bent backs and bowed heads- Heads riddled with arrogance and ignorance Their women should not discard the full garment of shame for pleasure Esteeming the presence of their husbands instead of passing around untoward slurs No young lovebird should play the game When the nest is tender and the feathered friend is yet untamed If the sage is silent in this period of need, Then no one should say ‘the young shall grow’ For this one thing I know; That the presence of an elder in the market Prevents a child from twisting his neck -Joshade 2 Likes 1 Share |
