I have a real interest in Okro farming. But I have not seen any thread pertaining to Okro on NL.

Okro expert please come in.

Advice on:

*Land/soil type
*Time of the year to grow it
*Pests/diseases and how to prevent them
*Seed varieties
*Where to get good seed
*Does it need fertiliser
*What is the ideal space
*How long does it take to mature for harvesting
*What could be the cost of cultivating 1 acre of okro
*What could be the profit margin one can realise from 1 acre of okro
*Is there any buck buyer of Okro in Ogun and Osun states?

Your sincere advice and contributions is needed by me and other viewers of this thread.

Okra is not my area of specialisation. I only farm okra once.
You can chat me up on WhatsApp 08164628081 to link you up to okra farmers
And where do you intend to farm the okra?

Thanks.

why do you call for okra experts when you know this crop is very easy to grow,

i plant mine in containers and nylon sacks so i dont really need much spending or treating the soil.

Any soil can be used in growing okra only if you can be watering them daily,

i know of someone who goes to the north to buy okra in large quantity and sells it all in the east for higher profits

do call me on 09060680788 to know more thanks

If you're in the western part of the country, I'll advice you not to go into okra.. else you'll be the one begging traders to buy your product, except you already have a ready market in lagos, in the ss and se I think okra can grow at any time of the year..

And cultivate a plot before going large... your management skill will determine your profit..

I once did okra on land lesser than half a plot in warri delta state, didnt use any fertiliser or any form of irrigation, but the okra came out perfectly..

It is not always true bro. SW is one of the largest zones, demand for what to eat will always be there. I sold on friday, it's the market women that are begging. I didnt even use lagos market. just like any other veggies, sometimes there could be glut. Pepper too, we had sold above l7k, few days later, same qty, sold less than 6k.
