1 – The fans want Herrera to stay

This one is slightly transfer related, but the winner of United’s Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year Award, based on fan votes alone, was midfielder Ander Herrera.

The Spaniard has been a divisive character since he arrived at Old Trafford with many claiming he doesn’t fit into the United set-up and was only purchased after the hoax that occurred the previous year. But clearly, this is the minority view.
Given the outstanding performances of David De Gea, Antonio Valencia, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marcus Rashford in an otherwise disappointing season – Herrera has beaten some impressive competition and is clearly in the supporters plans for the future, if not his manager’s?

2 – Manchester United’s future looks bright

The two awards for the younger players went to Angel Gomes (Youth Team Player of the Year), and recent first teamer Axel Tuanzebe (Reserve Player of the Year).
Gomes has been labelled a prodigious talent and is the youngest ever recipient of the Jimmy Murphy award for young talent at United. He is the England Under-17’s captain, scored 12 goals in 19 starts this season and is still just 16 years old.
Tuanzebe is becoming a familiar name for United fans after playing a part in the club’s last three games. He rightfully took home the Denzil Haroun award for reserve player of the year.
The young defender has been on the fringes of the first team for the better part of 18 months, having been singled out by former manager Louis Van Gaal as a potential mainstay in the future. He is now pushing for a place in the team for the Europa League final in Stockholm.
Big things are expected of Tuanzebe in the future.
