Blog reader Kemi who shared her story with MDB to warn others of the latest trick fraudsters are now employing, she was defrauded in the banking hall and didn't even realize until the fraudster was gone.

Read below:

When I got to the bank today, I had a hundred thousand (1N100,000)to deposit. While filling my teller, a man walked up to me because I didn't have a pen with me. He got me by giving me his pen to use.

He appeared to have a huge amount of money but in five hundred naira denomination. My money was in one thousand naira denomination.

He said he needed one thousand naira denominations, and in return he would give me the equivalent in 500 naira notes.

I don't know what came over me but I counted 50k and gave it to him. Then he counted 50k in five hundred naira denomination and gave me. We both counted it over four times and it was complete but on getting to the counter, to my greatest surprise the total money 87,500. Whereas we both counted and the money he returned and it was 50,000 in 500hundreds. Like I didn't know what came over me to change him the money in the first place. I came to my right senses at the moment the cashier said the money wasn't complete.

I was dumbfounded and unfortunately he had already left the banking hall. I had to deposit the 87,500 first . This appears to be a new trick fraudsters are using now BEWARE....
