That should be an "Hawk Moth". (Sphingidae) or Pandora sphinx moth. It's beautiful!

Its wings are different in shape from a butterfly's, and even from the regular moth too.

Meanwhile, I've just googled this particular species of moth, and it's not native to Africa. Its supposed to be North American. But it seems we have it in Africa also from this.
Its a pity we don't document the wildlife around us.
