You're talking rubbish. You have never seen ANY plan. The national rail network masterplan has started. It's not ''on paper''. The recently completed Abuja-Kaduna network is part of the plan. You can go there and enter the train, and stop at the various modern stations on the network. The ongoing Calabar-Lagos network is part of the national rail masterplan.

''A state-owned Chinese company has signed a $12 billion agreement with the Nigerian federal government to build a railway along Nigeria’s coast that is billed as China’s single largest overseas contract, the state media said on Thursday.

China Railway Construction Corp. Ltd. (CRCC) signed the official construction contract with the Nigerian government on Wednesday in Abuja, the Xinhua news agency said.

The Nigerian railway will stretch for 1,402 kilometres (871 miles) along the coast, linking Lagos, the financial capital of Africa’s largest economy and leading oil producer, and Calabar in the east, according to the report.

The $11.97 billion deal marks China’s largest single overseas contract project so far, it said, citing CRCC.''

http://www.aitonline.tv/post-chinese_firm_signs__12bn_deal_to_build_lagos_calabar_railway_line

There you go talking rubbish through your anus. Are you the Central Bank governor, to know Nigeria ''does not have the money'' to pay its share?

Do you even know the road leading to the Central Bank or Federal Ministry of Finance?

Baba juxtapose pictures of the plan/as built with that shown from Kenya, then all this defence will stop.

For the East-West plan give us the design view in 3D/progress and as-built already pictures then all noise will end.

Project not deliverable in 3 years would make no sense, as our currency variation cost, given Nigeria experience, will make it practically

impossible and if it takes longer it will be already obsolete as technology would have moved on.

Leaving us with machines/equipment /plants with parts that can only be specially ordered because they are out of stock and not available off shelf.

We need to learn a lot of things in this country. Time value of money for a start.

Do you ignorant dolts understand there is a $25 billion high speed national rail network CURRENTLY under construction in Nigeria? It will outclass anything Kenya is currently doing, while connecting every state in Nigeria by high speed rail. This is why you and your ilk need to study and research before commenting.

We've heard many times of expensive projects being built. At the end of that $25 billion contract, they will deliver $250 million network with second-hand rails and trains from 1960s. That's what the complaint is about... with much fewer resources Kenya outshines Nigeria in quality and low-cost of their public infrastructure; which is a direct result of better management by their leaders.

For instance, how much have we spent on our President's foreign hospital stays in the past two years? I bet it could have paid for a very decent hospital with well trained staff and superb doctors. And the fleet of jets he is still maintaining (in spite of campaigning to reduce them) could probably fund major improvements to the rail link from Ibadan to Lagos. We don't need $25 billion contract where half the money will be pocketed, and the rest used for substandard equipment that will decay before the next rainy season.

Your assertion is shameful. That GEJ after about 6 years in power with all the oil money of US $140per barrel at a production rate of 2.2million barrel per day, the highest in Nigeria history, was only able to build without completing it, a very short distance railway between Abuja and Kaduna!

Even IBB that people say institutionalize corruption in Nigeria, in his days when government revenues were like nothing compare to what GEJ made, IBB still built the 3rd mainland bridge in Lagos; which cannot still be matched till date. How then shall we hail him.

And you don't think that in the intervening decades, worldwide inflation hasn't affected the price of things? Even to be fair, equipment, land, concrete, labour, fuel, are almost 10x what they used to be in IBB's time.

These are the train stations built in Kenya, they don't have as much money as Nigeria but they know what is obtainable abroad where the leaders go often. Our own leaders should learn to build modern day facilities they see out there and stop replicating what they used to have out there, in the 80s.

This is the kind of development we want and stop singing your praises when you build outdated facilities for Nigerians.
The Future is on!

What should we do to all our past leaders. Simple electricity they can't provide

We DO lead them. Kenya has only one or two serious airports, Nairobi and Mombasa.

KENYA AIRPORTS:

Mombasa Airport

Nairobi Airport

Nigeria has TOO MANY TO COUNT: Here's just a few:

Lagos Airport

Abuja Airport

Kano Airport

Bauchi Airport

Owerri Airport

Warri Airport

Calabar Airport

Ilorin Airport

Asaba Airport

Enugu Airport

MMA 2 Lagos

Dutse Airport

Kaduna Airport

Benin Airport

Yola Airport

THESE ARE JUST A FEW AIRPORTS IN NIGERIA. I MAKE BOLD TO SAY THAT NO NATION IN AFRICA OUTSIDE SOUTH AFRICA, EVEN REMOTELY COMPARES WITH NIGERIA IN TERMS OF INFRASTRUCTURE, INCLUDING AIRPORT INFRASTRUCTURE.

kenya airport looks like someones house in ikeja lmaooo. mayne they need t upgrade that thang grin grin grin

It is pathetic, heart wreanching. One time giant of Africa, very sad indeed, with all the available natural resources, discovery of crude oil, since 1958, yet when it comes basic and modern social ammenities, we score minus 0. All our past leaders, both high and low, present sef should all be arraingned and shot!

Is there any sensible government in Nigeria since October 1st. 1979?. Buhari/Idi Agbon would have made sense but Nigerians could not handle the narrow road that would have lead to abundant. Nigeria is now stock with REVOLVING governments in all the three level of governments.

There's nothing wrong with borrowing if it's used for what was intended.

We would have squandered it. Then Uncle Jonah will go and buy locomoto.

If you have only two cities in your country like Kenya, you can build multimillion dollar palaces as their respective train stations. But if you are in Nigeria, which has hundreds of cities, you cannot. You need to be more modest so the infrastructure spreads round.
