When should we be expect the final shortlist for Nppwer-tech?
This is the last Npower update as regard the final shortlist. No current information. Good afternoon,

It has come to our attention that some states have been awarding posting letters to N-Power pre-selected applicants.

LET US BE VERY CLEAR

At this point, there are ONLY Pre-Selected applicants, we shall announce and release the names of the FINAL SELECTED BENEFICIARIES when we have finished reviewing the returns of the Physical Verification compilations.

States can ONLY deploy Final Selected Beneficiaries.

We will assume that States who are currently deploying PRE-SELECTED APPLICANTS are expanding their charity base as we currently have NO ENGAGEMENT with these pre-selected applicants until we have announced and communicated same.

We are currently reviewing the returns of the Physical Verification compilations and we shall communicate progress and next steps on our Social Media Channels.

Have a great Sunday.

BENUE N-POWER TEACHERS STILL IN SHOCK, YET TO RESUME AFTER FULANI HERDSMEN ATTACK
N-Power teacher volunteers in some local government councils of Benue State are yet resume teaching activities in their respective Places of Primary Assignment following the rude shock they suffered after marauding Fulani herdsmen attacked the area killing dozens of people, a volunteer, Mathias Agum has said.
Series of herdsmen attacks in Benue communities have claimed hundreds of lives in recent times with the latest in early January this year leaving more than 70 persons dead after herdsmen launched violent attack in Benue communities following a dispute with locals over grazing land.
The volunteer, Mathias Agum who teaches in Gbeji town of Ukum local council said they are yet to resume teaching and learning activities in schools in the areas after the attacks that claimed the life of one of his pupil's father.
Mr Agum said: "We are yet to resume. Fulani herdsmen are disturbing in my PPA. Some pupils are taken to different villages and some are not sleeping in the main village. He noted that not all the areas affected by the attacks are being mentioned in the mainstream media, adding that father of one of his pupils was killed in the attacks.
"In reporting areas affected, Gbeji in Ukum local government area is not mentioned and one of my pupil's dad was killed by Fulani.
He stated that teaching and learning activities can only yield positive result in a conducive environment but regretted that his area is far from being conducive at present.
"According to teaching rules, the environment must be conducive for teaching and learning but now the environment is not conducive.

N-Power reveals what it’s doing about N-Build category
Published on January 25, 2018
By Seun Opejobi
N-Power, Federal Government’s youth empowerment scheme has given update on its N-Power Build category.
The empowerment scheme disclosed that it was reviving Nigeria’s apprenticeship culture under its N-Build category.
In a terse statement on its Twitter handle, the scheme wrote, “With N-Power Build, we are reviving Nigeria’s apprenticeship culture.
“We are building a skilled workforce for our communities, properly trained and certified service professionals.”
Recall that the scheme had recently disclosed what successful applicants under its N-Build category must do.
The empowerment scheme had directed successful candidates to visit its portal and fill in their details.
It explained that the directive became necessary because some “successfully verified” applicants are yet to fill their details on its portal.

Reps query presidential aide over N-Power selections
By Musa Abdullahi Krishi
Publish Date: Jan 25 2018
Daily Trust
The House of Representatives Committee on Poverty Alleviation yesterday queried the Special Adviser to the President on Social Investment, Hajiya Maryam Uwais, for not carrying relevant stakeholders along in the N-Power Programme.
The panel said Uwais and her management team failed to consult members of the National Assembly before selection of beneficiaries for the programme.
Speaking during budget defence with the N-Power team yesterday in Abuja, chairman of the committee, Muhammad Ali Wudil (APC, Kano) said members of the National Assembly represent the entire country. He added that engaging them would have made the selection process easier and all encompassing.
He said available records showed that the selection process may have been skewed to favour some sections of the 36 states of the federation, calling for more involvement of major stakeholders in implementation of the National Social Investment Programmes (NSIP).
“I cannot be here representing my people and something is going on in my local government, and then I will appropriate money, but I don’t know what it’s meant for,” he said.
Mrs Uwais said they trained civil servants and local government facilitators “They gave us people from the ministry of planning and from local government that have been identified as the poorest, because we started with 30% of each senatorial district. We trained them and asked them to form focal group discussion. They defined what poverty is in their own context.”

FG’s Social Investment Programme To Engage 500,000 Unemployed Graduates In 2018, Says Osinbajo
By LEKAN PAUL
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo (SAN), has disclosed that the federal government has committed a total of N500 billion in the 2018 budget to engage 500,000 unemployed graduates in the year 2018.
The budgeted funds is part of the federal government’s Social Investment
Programme (SIP) designed to cater for the vulnerable and the poor.
Osinbajo, in a chat with CNBC’s Chris Bishop, at the ongoing World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, said that the federal government
has been investing in the most ambitious social investment project in the country since 2016 which includes giving micro credit loans, and
conditional cash transfers to the poorest of the poor.
His words: “Social policy is crucial because we think that in order to achieve the inclusive growth we’ve been talking about we must find a way of accounting for the vast majority of our people who still are in one form of deprivation or the other and that’s why this social investment scheme is extremely important and we hope that we’ll be able to improve on the numbers in terms of the social investment itself and also to see incremental improvements in those who are coming out of poverty.”

Re: N-Power Lagos Thread by AutosBay(m): 9:08am On Jan 28, 2018
"I think we are seeing the progress day by day. For
example, look at investments; when an investment comes in, it doesn’t immediately translate to jobs until a few months. When you look at youth unemployment, for the first time in the history of this country, we have employed 200,000 graduates, there is no administration that has done that. We are also giving them devices for their training, so that each of them would have a device that they can use in training, in code writing and computing. They can be better prepared for private employment, entrepreneurship in whatever they want to do. 200,000 young people by a government through one specific programme, and we are doing 300,000 more this year, so we are hoping to employ 500,000 graduates. There is unemployment all over the world, especially over Sub-Saharan Africa, but
we are addressing it aggressively." ~ Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo The VP made these remarks during a media chat on the last day of his participation at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
