Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, has disclosed that President Muhammadu Buhari ensured that the selection process to the various schemes of the National Social Investment Programmes were fair and transparent.
He said this led to a situation where beneficiaries did not need any kind of connection to benefit from the programmes.
The Vice President spoke on Tuesday at a town hall meeting with some beneficiaries of the National Social Investment Programme (N-SIP) in
Yola, Adamawa State, to assess the progress made so far in the implementation of the programme in the state.
Having listened to the various presentations and sessions of testimonials by some beneficiaries of the various segments of the SIPs, he added that,
“President Buhari made it clear that the SIP would be a major programme of the administration because he was concerned about poverty and
unemployment.”
Osinbajo noted that the programme was designed to benefit all Nigerians irrespective of their background.
The VP assured the beneficiaries that Federal Government will soon scale up the implementation of the SIPs across the country.
He said more N-Power beneficiaries were being added and more micro-credit loans would be made available for beneficiaries, while the Home-Grown School Feeding Programme would be kicking off in the state very soon as cooks have already been selected.

Vice-President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, on Thursday assured Nigerians that the Federal Government had not relented in its efforts to address the nation’s unemployment problem.
Osinbajo disclosed this during a town hall meeting with youth groups, traders, and other stakeholders in business, agriculture and information and communication technology, as part of his two-day visit to Benin, the Edo State capital.
The Vice-President said that the government was committed to supporting small businesses, through funding and expert advice from its agencies, to micro, small and medium-scale enterprises.
He emphasised that the social investment programme of the Federal Government was important to President Muhammadu Buhari, adding that 200,000 beneficiaries had been recorded while the number would be increased to 300,000 by the end of June.
Osinbajo explained, “The important thing for us, as a government, is to make sure that we deal with the unemployment problem. We will deal with it in two ways.
“One, by direct employment; that is what we are doing through the N-Power programme. We will also deal with it by giving credit to people who want to work, whether it is the market women, the artisans, the N-Build, N-Teach and all that.
“Apart from that, we will also give credit to the very lowest traders, those who are hawking, those who are selling little things all over the country
because all of these people are hard-working Nigerians.
“And we want to make sure that every Nigerian who is prepared to work we will give them an opportunity to work.”
On the new housing project in Benin, he said, “I want to commend the governor of the state for the excellent work that he is doing. I think that
by the time I come back next (time), we are going to see some major industries here and there and some many changes.”
Earlier, Governor Godwin Obaseki enumerated efforts by his administration to address the menace of human trafficking to include ward development committees to guide the government in the provision of necessary infrastructure in rural areas.

N-power second batch deployment of 300,000 successful beneficiaries are likely to begin by the end of June, 2018.
The second batch had undergone physical verification exercise some months ago, and are awaiting final deployment from N-power headquarters in Abuja.
State governments in Nigeria are responsible for deployments of N-power volunteers after they’ve been certified by the N-power team.

After N-power, what is next? By Haruna Hassan | Daily Trust Publish Date: Jul 22 2018 In December 2016, the Nigerian government commenced employment of 200,000 youths under the N-power scheme with a N30,000 remuneration. The sole aim of the programme is to alleviate poverty among Nigerian youths, especially graduates. This initiative is unprecedented in the history of Nigerian politics, therefore it is commendable. The programme is subdivided into the following: N- power teach, Agro and N-build. And the total time allocated for the programme is 24 months. Some wise persons among the beneficiaries have already ventured into small scale businesses, from their monthly earnings. At the moment, the beneficiaries have already exhausted 19 months out of 24 months, so I am posing the question; what next? There is a need for the federal government to provide an answer to that. The youths engaged in the programme need to know their fate. Personally, I don’t think the federal government should end the programme. Terminating the appointment of 200,000 youths will only add to the insecurity issue we are battling. An alternative is for the government to find a way of absorbing the youths in the various ministries, parastatals and agencies. Lagos not compelled to employ N-Power programme beneficiaries

The Lagos State Government says it is not obliged to retain teachers posted to the state under the ongoing N-Power programme of the Federal Government .
Mr Obafela Bank -Olemoh , Special Adviser to state governor on Education , made thedeclaration in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Tuesday in Lagos.
“ We have made it clear from the very beginning that in the N-Power programme, we are not obliged to employ anybody.
“ They are there and when that
programme is finished, they are
eased out .
“ The governor has given us a clear
mandate that as teachers retire from
the system, we replace them
immediately .
“ Our teachers are something we are
very passionate about .
“ This administration has employed over 1, 300 new teachers into the system and we are paying them .
“ But we also know that there are challenges there and it is work in progress.
“ We are committed to training and retraining of our teachers .
“ We would continue to do it and over the next one or two years, they are going to see usdo a lot more in strengthening our teachers . ’’
NAN reports that the N-power initiative,
which was inaugurated in 2016, seeks to
address youth unemployment by providing
large -scale skills acquisition and
development opportunities to participants .
To that end , the programme deployed at
least 5, 436 teachers to Lagos State in 2017,
and many more to other states .
Speaking on the shortage of teachers in the
state, Bank -Olemoh said the state
government had plans to employ more
teachers through the state’ s agency
charged with continuous recruitment .

The second batch of the FG job initiative programme have waited so long, here is the N-power latest update for 2017 batch and the 20 things they must know as they are warming up for deployment.
1) Option to onboard on the N-power portal within their NPVN dashboard closes today by 6PM
2) N-power onboarding means volunteers must upload their photo and a means of identity which can be INEC voter’s card, NIMC national ID card, Driver’s licence, or International passport.
3)N-power Abuja head office will today, after revoking onboarding, will send the 2017 successful list to all the focal persons today July 20 for immediate deployment in their various PPA.
4) Any applicants who are yet to onboard may be replaced by the serious ones at a later date. If you are yet to do that do it before it is too late.
5) Another crucial N-power update for 2017 batch is that you must begin to report at their Place of Primary Assignment beginning from August 1,2018.
6) You must resume at their PPA with their deployment letter, it must be signed and stamped by the head of their PPA.
7) Another N-power latest update for 2017 batch to note is this: your state focal person will have to return deployment schedule to N-power headquarters by Friday, August 3, 2018. This means you must have collected your deployment letter in your state of residence.
The signed and stamped deployment letter will then be scanned and uploaded on your NPVN portal as confirmation of resumption at PPA on or before Friday, August 10, 2018.

Do you know you can actually get solution to your N-power problem through the official N-power complaint support email?

In this post, we’ve separated the e-mail you use as 2016 batch, and the one you can use as 2017 batch, we also have sample of how to send your complaint.

The separation in the complaint e-mail address is to quickly track cause of issue, it’s advisable to send your complaint to the appropriate e-mail.

This is in addition to the fact that you can now send complaints directly to N-POWER within your NPVN portal with ease.

Do you still have some issues with N-power? This post will show you how to get them resolved by simply sending a message to support centre of N-power.

When the 2016 N-power registration closed, the job initiative team made available the option to directly chat with any of its support agent online when it has to do issues relating to password, correction in volunteers’ bank details and other errors.

Unfortunately, the option to chat with N-power staff via the NPVN portal had been removed because most of your questions have been sorted out in the support link.

If you are 2016 batch, you can simply use the N-power Complaint Support Email support@npvn.desk-mail.com

If you are 2017 batch, please use the N-power support email: volunteersupport@npvn.ng

If you are among the 2017 shortlisted candidates, you can also use the above email to contact N-POWER Nigeria for support. But that will only be possible when you’ve been deployed.

In a situation whereby you can’t find solution to your N-power issues on the support section of NPVN Portal, it then becomes imperative for you to send message to N-power complaint support email for your issue to be resolved.

A:- Once your profile shows on-boarded, you have been deployed. You might have to remain calm for few days before contacting your Focal person as recommended in the Live chat. Thank you.
