How long does it take to get my LPG delivery after I call it in?

With locations within Lagos, we would get your gas delivered within 24 business hours. We recommend you notify us as soon as your tank level gauge reaches 5-10% so you don’t have to worry about running out of gas

What are the hours that I can reach you?

You can speak to a live person 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We do not have answering services or call centres. You will speak to a knowledgeable person every time you call. We recommend calling during normal business hours but you can call any time with an emergency.

LPG Tank Float Gauge

The LPG float gauge is for consumer use only. The float gauge is not to be used for refilling cylinders as it only provides an approximate tank percentage and cannot be considered 100% reliable. The fixed liquid level gauge is utilized for filling. Tanks with float gauges measure the volume of the tank as a percentage of the total capacity of the container. If the gauge reads 50% on a 4800 litres tank (2.7tons), the tank has approximately, 2400 litres (1.4tons). It is just a gauge that indicates the volume of the liquid gas in the tank as a percentage of the tank’s total capacity

How Did My Tank Percentage Fall So Quickly?

A case that might seem confusing to our LPG customers involves tank volume following an LPG delivery in the afternoon, which is commonly the hotter part of the day. When LPG deliveries are made during the hotter parts of the day, the gas has already expanded before it is delivered into the tank and the gauge may read 80-85 percent following a fill. A significant percentage drop (up to 5 percent) may be shown if inspecting the tank gauge the following morning, even if no gas has been used. This doesn’t necessarily mean there is a leak. More likely than not, the volume of the liquid LPG in the tank has contracted in the cooler overnight hours.

Why Are Two Hoses Used During LPG Delivery?

This is a very commonly asked delivery question in warmer climates like Lagos. The additional hose is a vapor return hose and will be used on days when the temperature is rising quickly or is expected to be quite high. This hose is used to relieve the excess pressure from the tank being delivered into. Keep in mind that as the volume in the tank increases, the pressure is also rising. As a precaution, the vapor return hose is connected to prevent an over-pressure condition which could result in the release of LPG through the safety relief valve. A common misconception is that the second hose is being used counter actively to the fill hose. The vapor return hose does not recover liquid propane from your tank during the filling process. It only recovers excess pressure.

Why is LPG Spewing out of My Tank during Delivery?

During LPG delivery, the fixed liquid level gauge, also known as a bleeder valve, is opened as required by law. The driver is not inadvertently letting gas out of the tank. This valve accurately indicates the level of liquid in the propane tank and lets the delivery driver know when to stop the filling process

Your First LPG Delivery

There are many cases where an LPG delivery is made while the customer is not at available. This is very common and quite often the norm regarding most LPG deliveries. There are a few things that the LPG company needs to know about your property before delivering to your site especially if it’s a new driver or a new LPG company servicing your tank. Firstly, LPG companies will keep a record of certain instructions you have for them but you may need to meet the driver at your site the first time a delivery is made. Keep in mind that a LPG delivery bobtail is a big and heavy truck that doesn’t turn on a dime. A few things you will definitely need to inform the delivering LPG company of include:

Septic Tank Location[/b] – An LPG truck is heavy enough that thick concrete septic tank covers and lids are easily broken through when run over by a gas delivery truck.

[b]Overhead Power Lines – When a delivery is made at night, which is sometimes the case, the driver may not see low hanging overhead power lines. Also, if power lines are hidden by low hanging trees, the truck tank may hit these causing a power outage.

Sprinkler Systems– Many yards with sprinkler systems can be damaged if a bobtail or service truck runs over any part of the irrigation system.

Some LPG companies may ask that somebody be on site especially if it’s the first time delivering. While this may be an inconvenience, it is strictly for the protection of your property and should be viewed as such. This will also help you as the plant owner or manager acquaint yourself with the company representative as well as provide the driver with any direction they may need for future deliveries

LPG Leaks: What to Do

Risks Associated with LPG Leaks
Avoiding LPG leaks remains crucial for your safety. First, LPG leaks can lead to a fire if a spark is ignited in the area. Second, LPG is heavier than air, which can cause carbon monoxide poisoning. However, LPG itself is not toxic or dangerous for the natural environment (soil, water, plants, etc.).

The best way of avoiding LPG leaks is to prevent them by ensuring your LPG plant system is installed and configured properly. This is why LPG companies recommend that you have your entire LPG system inspected once a year and offer to perform leak checks to detect potential leaks (or if you run out of LPG) and make the necessary adjustments or repairs.

Checking for LPG Leaks

The easiest way of checking for LPG leaks is using liquid dish washing soap mixed with water and spraying it on the connection or seal you want to check. If the solution produces bubbles, a leak is present. Small bubbles point to a small leak, whereas large bubbles mean there is a more important leak. Also, when there is a leak, some LPG tanks will make a hissing sound (though this could also be a case of your fixed liquid level gauge or relief valve being slightly open, which poses no threat). Installing a gas detector would also help detect leaks.

LPG Prices - Factors Influencing The Price of LP Gas

The question, "what's the price of LPG?" is the most common inquiry that LPG companies ever answers. The answer will always simply be a Naira/dollar figure. However, LPG prices are a bit more complex than just a Naira/dollar figure measured per ton. Because LPG is a commodity that is refined from other commodities and is traded on a worldwide market, prices can fluctuate greatly depending on unforeseen economic, political, climate and other factors too many to name or explain. Just keep in mind that LPG prices are much more complex than anybody realizes and while LPG companies are for profit businesses, they are not always profitable.

LPG Demand

One of the main factors influencing the price of LPG is demand. Whether or not demand in your area is at a peak level is insignificant. What is significant is whether or not there is demand anywhere. For instance, if temperatures in the Europe goes cold (winter season), demand for LPG goes up. Once demand goes up, prices of LPG also goes up
