[quote author=olujastro post=57371452]Not a bad idea. But why do we have to get the city dirty and start cleaning it every day? Europe wey clean, dem get 10 heads?
Metallic waste bins should be constructed and stationed at every bus stop, inside all buses, trains and at strategic places on the roads.
Nigerians should as well learn to use waste bins and not throw out rubbish on the roads, especially through the window when on a journey. I get disgusted when I see people doing that. Wait till you get to a nearby bin or take it home.
Cleanliness is next to godliness. [/quite. Who told you they don't clean in Europe? Lol they do sir. Major streets and high street is been swept everyday

Hummm,I ws there yesterday as well, abt 75 percent of us were HND,Bsc,Masters holders. I was wondering since yesterday with this question in my mind ;do Nigerian graduates now turn to street sweepers? Anyway,I pray Ambode pays base on one's qualification. But they said is that the salary is above minimum wage of 18,500,but not specific yet!

That is where education comes in, right?
Education for all children in the state.
Ambode and his predecessors have been total failures in this regard, not so?
I disagree with you slightly, Education was top priority for BRF and Adebisi Sosan then, kids were taken off the streets from hawking and put in schools, schools got heavy renovation, several competition was organized to encourage learning, Quality of education skyrocketed, community service started, waste baskets were everywhere . Something fit don happen since Sosan didn't come as deputy for second term sha.

Let us assume that you said the truth about Fashola's first term.
That is four years out of 18 years i.e. 22%, which is overall failure, right?
Moreover, what is the use of an initiative that is good but not sustained?
Do you know?

Nigerians love throwing trash indiscriminately. You need to use an 'iron rod' to compel them to use the trash cans (waste bins). I remember back then in school (A.B.U. Zaria) when Prof Mahadi was the V.C, he provided waste bins at short-intervals all over the campus and empowered the security personnels to do the enforcement. You dare not be caught throwing 'pure' water satchet or other wastes 'anyhow', you could be suspended. You dare not cross the flowers or pass through 'unapproved routes' in d name of shortcut, wetin security go carry you do, you will live to remember forever! This is d only kind of 'language' Nigerians respect/understand.

Are you a Nigerian?
Do you love throwing trash indiscriminately?
Do you need an iron rod to compel you to use publicly and permanently available trash cans?
Can you not understand and respect lessons on personal and collective hygiene and sanitation that is backed up with adequate amenities and facilities that are always available?
Even after spending money and time in a university?
Or what are you saying exactly?

No fewer than 5000 job seekers in Lagos State besieged the Agege Stadium yesterday to apply for job as Community Sanitation Workers (CSW) under the ongoing recruitment exercise by the Cleaner Lagos Initiative (CLI).

The three-day exercise which commenced yesterday, is expected to end on Monday. The initiative being undertaken under the Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s administration is aimed at effecting cleaner, safer and healthier environment in the state.

One of the recruitment officials, Mr. Ibrahim Fearon said those that will be employed will not be just street sweepers, but an employee of the state government. He said contrary to what was in place under the Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), where the street sweepers were casuals, employed by Private Service Providers, who were paid by the government, there is a career part in the new initiative.

“We want to put some dignity into it. They don’t only get tax free monthly pay, they are also pensionable.” He added there is going to be an accident insurance and to avoid spending money on transportation by the workers.
Under the new initiative, Fearon said those employed would also enjoy life insurance and health insurance. One of the applicants, Mary Emmanuel, a BSC holder in Mathematics ‎from Ekiti State University said she filled the form online to apply for employment.

Yes .. Am very certain of that... Those that have not seen the message should still expect it till ending of the month.. We use a screening centre per time.. The first was Epe. Now its Agege.. We should be moving to oshodi next.. But cos of the recent fracas there we might be staying here longer than expected. .
