England won their biggest international title since 1966 by beating Venezuela 1-0 in the Under-20 World Cup final on Sunday.

Six players of Nigerian descent were in the squad of the young three Lions and four of the six players started the final match against Venezuela.

Liverpool bound and former Chelsea striker Dominic Solanke ended the tournament as top scorer with four goals, Ademola Lookman, Joshua Onomah, Fikayo Tomori played a big part in their successful run, while Seyi Ojo and Ovie Ejaria also played a role coming in from the bench.

Meet the six players

Joshua Onomah, 19
Joshua Oghenetega Peter Onomah was born on 27th of April, 1997 in Enfield, England to Nigerian parents.

The midfielder has been training with Tottenham’s senior squad for more than two years but did not make a Premier League start last season. He can play anywhere in midfield.

Ovie Ejaria, 19
Oviemuno Dominic O. Ejaria was born on 18th of November 1997 in Southwark, England to Nigerian parents.

Highly rated by Jurgen Klopp, the midfielder signed from Arsenal has already made several appearances in the cups and looks set to play a bigger part at Anfield next season.

Ademola Lookman, 19
Ademola Lookman Olajide was born on 20th of October 1997 in Wandsworth, England, to Nigerian parents.

Everton paid Charlton £7.5m for the winger, who scored with almost his first touch in the Premier League against Manchester City. He bamboozled defences with his close control and trickery at the tournament. A star of the future.

Dominic Solanke, 19
Dominic Ayodele Solanke-Mitchell was born on 14th of September 1997 in Basingstoke, England to Nigerian parents.

The forward, part of Chelsea’s dominant youth set-up, will join Liverpool for preseason and has been one of the stars of the tournament with four goals in six appearances. He scored twice against the Italians from No. 10, but he is more likely to challenge striker Roberto Firmino than Philippe Coutinho for a spot at Anfield. Won the Golden Ball for Player of the Tournament in South Korea.

Fikayo Tomori, 19
Oluwafikayomi Oluwadamilola Tomori was born on 19th of December 1997 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada to a Nigerian parent.

The Canadian-born teenager was part of Chelsea’s triumphant FA Youth Cup squad in 2016 before spending last season on loan at Brighton, where he barely played. Another loan beckons.

Sheyi Ojo, 19
Oluwaseyi Babajide Ojo was born on 19th of June 1997 in Hemel Hempstead, England to Nigerian parents.

Changed the semifinal from the bench with a dazzling display of direct running. He made two appearances for Liverpool last season and could be a useful impact sub for them next term.

Ejaria, Tomori, Solanke, Ojo and Onomah are eligible to represent Nigeria at international level through their parents.

Do we have a chance of getting them to play for the Super Eagles?
