Correct, even Ethiopians themselves bought and sold their own Ethiopians for many thousands of years until slaverly was officially abolished in Ethiopia in 1920s.

I feel this is a non-question. Slavery was practiced worldwide for thousands of years, and African nations were no exception. Ideas like "Africa" and "Pan-Africanism" would not have even passed through the mind of the West African Gulf Imperials. To them slaves were the lower class and a normal part of their everyday life.
