The Unit C Owerri zone of the Nigeria Customs Service recently destroyed 4118 cartons of frozen poultry with duty paid value of N83,389,500 in Owerri.

Comptroller Amajam Bukar, the Controller Federal Operations Unit Zone C Owerri said the seizure of the poultry products which was transported in a 1X40ft container, was achieved through a tip off from an informant to operatives of the Nigeria Customs Service Federal Operations Unit Zone C Owerri.

Comptroller Amajam who stressed that frozen poultry products is illegal and an import prohibition called on the public not to patronise such products which he said are harmful to human health.

angry these people should stop destroying food, Nigerians are hungry. Imagine all those cartons of chicken, carry them to the north there are millions of northerners that have not tasted chicken or even in IDP camps. Use it to feed them. If chemicals are used to preserve them, there's no chemical that cannot be treated or diluted. God will not forgive you for wasting food when people are dying of hunger in IDP camps

In some countries, if the smuggled products are found to be good for human consumption, they send it to the less privileged and not destroy it like we are doing undecided Sending to feed the IDPs would have gone a long way in saving some starving children undecided

Exactly my thoughts too. Funny enough, the big ogas must have taken their own share out of it before destroying angry
