[quote author=Zodam16 post=58670379]Good evening everyone.

My visa delayed at Abuja embassy yesterday 19th July by an african-american lady probably in her early to mid 30s

See below my transcripts- Kindly let me know what part I Bleeped and how i can do better next time

Vo: good morning
Me: good morning, how are you today?
Vo: can I av ur passport nd I-20
Me: I obliged
Vo: why are you going to the US?
Me: Am going to the US for my masters in public health at Georgia Southern University
Vo: why Georgia Southern university
Me: Asides the fact that Georgia Southern University has a great program curriculum that fits my graduate study needs, I am particularly interested in an on-going research real healthcare reforms focusing on primary care access in under-served population and the rural areas of which my community is presently underserved health wise. This will help me address the healthcare challenges when i return back home (Honestly she wasn't listening because she just kept typing and nodding till she noticed i had finished answering her question)
Vo: what do you do currently?
Me: I work with a health consulting firm as a public health specialist on the CDC/PEPFAR funded ACTION Plus up program where i support over 50 private health facilities in delivering quality HIV/AIDS services to people infected and affected by the disease. I also build the capacity of the health facility staff on proper monitoring of HIV patients. (she was nodding again and staring at her screen so i just thought she was seeing it on my DS160- well guess i was wrong)
Vo: who will be sponsoring you?
Me: My brother and my mum
Vo: (She calls his name because it's on my I-20) what does he do and your mum too?
Me: He works with the federal department of transport and he is also in the US army while my mum is senior lecture in one of the higher institutions in nigeria
Vo: Do you have his account statement with you?
Me: Yes i do
Vo: Can I see it? and your mums' to if you have it
Me: Pass the account statements to her
VO: (She looks at my brother's statement) why will he be willing to use all his savings to pay for your tuition?
Me: My mum will be supporting him with the tuition, so he wont be paying all alone (In my mind, what if he decides to use his whole savings sha)
VO: Your mum doesn't seem to have enough as well to cover for one year tuition
Me: Like i said earlier the one year tuition will come from both parties and not just one person. I also have savings myself
VO: I will be putting your application under administrative processing for now, She hands me the yellow paper and writes admin processing on it
Me: How long before a decision is made? Meanwhile she kept both financial statements and my passport with her, but returned my I-20
VO: I can't tell, but you will receive an email in that regards
Me: Thank you. (Then started to head out)

Feeling very disappointed i called my people and told them the outcome of the interview and they were very positive that they (VOs) probably needed to do more verification on the accounts i presented. A few hours letter, my mum confirmed from her account manager that an email came from the Embassy regarding her account statement i presented. Well my bro did not get any verification on his account.

BTW..... I saw about 6 applicants but i can't for sure say any of us got an approval yesterday

Today i decided to check my passport status since i was yet to receive any email as to what next, i saw a REFUSAL

I would be reapplying again but most likely lagos this time. Kindly go through my transcripts and let me know what i can do better next time
I think I saw you that day!!! you are for 7.30am

.

Then why didnt you buy jfk instead of dulles.... sometimes it might be possible to end it at jfk but depends on if the airline has checked your bags to its final destination...if yes then no its not possible

As for supper shuttle expensive...i dont think so but expensive is relative . When u calculate how much to get you from Dulles to your door in Baltimore by grey hound or sypper shuttle i am sure difference no go dey

As for grey hound in DC to Baltimore

Step 1.: Start by taking the Washington Flyer bus from the airport to the West Falls Church Metro station.

http://www.washfly.com/coach.html

Step 2 ..: At the West Falls Church Metro station, get on an Orange line train going towards Metro Center station in downtown DC.

Step 3.: At Metro Center station, change to a Red line train going to Union Station.

Step 4 : Get off at Union Station and walk three blocks to the Greyhound Bus station, which is located at 1005 1st St, NE. ....alternatively train dey too at union station

At Union station you have the train Amtrak that goes outside DMV area .... so i would think a train goes to baltimore from there so faster than if u take a bus

VISA TRANSCRIPT
Visa approved on June 29, 2017 @ Lagos Consulate. Sorry this is coming late
It was God who made it all possible and I thank him immensely.
I have been a follower of this thread and read the old transcripts as advised by great minds of this community. I want to specially thank Bigfrancis21, he is truly beyond description as a friend and helped me a great deal all through the process.

It rained that morning and the security guys were far less concerned to know cold dey nack me dat morning regardless of my tie, lol!!!
The interview was smooth. I was interviewed by an older lady above 40 years on June 29, 2017. She had denied two applicants right in front of me. Well they somehow where not clinical during their interview, one guy was speaking phonetics with her while the other lady was busy saying she applied one school because her aunty leaves close to the school.
Mine lasted less than 3mins. I didn’t have smile on me that morning, reasons I don’t know why. Not typical me.
I walked up to her, no smiles on my face at least not after the rain don nama me wella and my glasses had bubbles on it.
ME: I greeted her sharply as she is elderly, no smiles on my face and passed my Passport alongside I20
VO: she typed and turned with no single line of smile or grin in her face and asked when did you finish
High school
ME: 2007
VO: Bachelors?
ME: 2012
VO: what have you been doing since then?
ME: I have worked a couple of places but I currently work in an ISP company in lagos as a Technical
Support Engineer and my current work experience motivated me to pursue further studies in
cybersecurity (I was pretty fast in reply but she cuts in)
VO: **Cuts in; how many schools did you apply?
ME: three. Apart from Umd, University of Texas ElPaso and Morgan State university
VO: how many acceptable?
ME: I got offer from UTELP but a decline from MSU
VO: Why do you choose University of Maryland?
ME: Because UMD is one of the top 25 best university in Engineering in US and have one of the best
Cybersecurity centre ***
VO: ***Cuts in*** not typing this time, looked so straight on my face with no smile still and asked; What
does your Father do?
ME: I was surprised as I indicated my Uncle as sponsor. But I replied: He is a successful business man
that is into importation of tailoring materials from ***
VO : ***cuts in***, I will approve your visa, ***didn’t hear the rest***…she continued** please try
study your books and have fun in US during your study. Miraculously the long awaited grin and
smiles emanated from her face
ME: but too bad still no smiles on my face, I just say thanks and struggled with a grin.

I balled out thankful to GOD. The interview was like a flash (3-4Mins) and God was all involved with guidance from Bigfrancis21.
Wishing all future Applicants success but please never you say you applied one school. Please never ever say so. It’s a damn red flag…. NEVER SAY YOU APPLIED TO ONE SCHOOL!!!
LOVE YOU ALL!!!

I AM REPOSTING THIS SO THAT SOME PEOPLE WILL NOT SAY, I DIDNT INCLUDE EVERYTHING THEY NEEDED. THERE IS NO ISSUE BEING SO MAD IF YOU ARE OFFENDED BY FIRST POST. ENJOY THE EXPLICITE AND GOOD LUCK IN YOUR SEARCH FOR SCHOOLS AND VISA. GOD BLESS OUR HUSTLE

Please what's ur advice to someone who applied to only one university to respond to that question.

This question has been discussed here on many occasions. Even if you applied to one school, you must have checked other schools and settled for one since you won't be attending 3 or 4 schools at the same time. Expressions like ' I considered 3 schools but settled for this uni( the one you are going). Then ready for other normal questions like why this? Hope this settles your worries.

He needs to be aware of Metro closures or he'll just be stranded. For someone coming for the first time, shuttle is not a bad idea.
