Babe i don't think the technical issue got anything to do with the pilot.
Even after proper verifications of the performance level of an air vehicle before a "go" is given, issues can still pop up in the air.

A Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Agusta 109 Light Utility Helicopter has suffered a mishap while undertaking a liaison mission targeted at further enhancing the synergy between the Nigerian Army and the NAF in the ongoing counterinsurgency operation in the North East.

The incidence, which occurred today, 6 July 2017, was as a result of an airborne technical fault with the helicopter. The experienced NAF pilots, however, successfully ditched the helicopter into a pool of water to minimize damage and loss of lives.

Consequently, there were neither any injuries nor loss of lives to anyone on board or on the ground.

The Chief of the Air Staff has immediately directed the constitution of a board of inquiry to determine the exact cause of the incidence while efforts are ongoing to recover the helicopter and members of the board are already in Maiduguri to commence work.

The NAF continues to solicit the understanding and support of the general populace as it daily strives to ensure the security of Nigeria and Nigerians.

girl this is no pilot error situation, the copter had a mechanical failure or something; it means the Nigerian airforce lacks competent technical engineers to service and maintain this flying machine

When a similar thing happened a few years ago, the country went into political frenzy. Every one seems to have gone mute, perhaps introspectively wiser now....but, my word, indeed suffering is good for the soul.

Former President Ibrahim Babangida grounded the Nigerian Airforce long time ago following the alleged coup of Late Major General Mamman Vatsa in the mid 1980s. Whistle blower were alleged to have told Babangida that the Late Mamman Vatsa and Late Squadron Leader, Martin Luther etc were attempting to bomb Lagos and strategic military institution in an attempt to seize power from General Babangida. Whether the Vatsa coup report was true or lies is another story but Babangida was very unhappy with the coupist and he tried General Vatsa and other military Officers and got them executed despite pleas from Nigerians including Nobel Laurette, Wole Soyinka, Late Chinua Achebe, Pepper Clark.

Since then the Nigerian Airforce is just a paper copy of its former self as we operate Airforce that can not fly.

In recent times with the Boko Haram threat ravaging the North East part of Nigeria, the Nigerian Airforce attempt to bomb target it ended up bombing to death innocent Nigerian refugees in IDP camp.

Our socalled senor officer that Nigeria managed to produced such as Marshal Badeh went out of his ways forgetting military discipline to be stealing like politicians.

That is the legacy of General Ibrahim Babangida for the Nigerian Airforce.

Subsequent Nigerian military leader like Abacha, Abdulsalami including military turned-civilian like Obasanjo and Yar adua, Jonathan and the sick Buhari/Osinbanjo all helped to ground our so called Airforce.

Don't be an asslicking pessimist. It is clearly stated that the pilot "succesfully ditched the helicopter in water to minimize damage". Smh
