Admission: Mimiko rejects royal fathers’ lists

The Vice Chancellor of the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA), Prof. Femi Mimiko, has disappointed some monarchs and top politicians in the state who sent lists of candidates to him for admission into the university.

Mimiko, who insisted on sanitising the state-owned university, said the names on the lists sent to him since his assumption of office were in excess of 2,000, while the school had the capacity to admit only 3,000 for full time programmes.

While speaking at a get-together organised by his friends in Akure, the AAUA VC said that so many big-wigs in the state which included monarchs, chieftains of the ruling political party and some political appointees had been sending lists to him for admission, but maintained that the admission would be mainly on merit.

This is one reason why genuine students do not have admissions in Nigeria. I wonder when this rubbish will stop. How can all these useless lists gulp 2,000 slots out of the available 3,000. May GOD help us!.

This is another reason, why we have half-baked students everywhere, because the same people will have to beg lecturers to allow these unqualified students to pass. Oba's list, Paramount ruler's list, Chief's list, Counsellor's list, Chairman's list, and even NURTW's list ,. What a nation!.
