of a long term aspiration to have a Federal University in Okun land cannot be overemphasized.
Our presence will not only give bite to our yearnings, it

For the benefit of younger Okuns, Uni-Sokoto,Maiduguri ,Markudi, Kano etc were once upon a time ABU Satalite campuses like ABU college of Agric, Kabba....
We need total commitment of all and sundry to see to the reality of this uncommon venture.

We are different!!

Our leaders are promoting and establishing University in their own zones but nobody is thinking of where the graduate of this so called mushroom university will work after their graduation.

One expects our politician to think of establishing companies, standard industrial farms, soap making factory, biscuit manufacturing company, beer manufacturing companies etc. If you move to all the 6 geo-political zones in Nigeria, it is all saturated with university, polytechnic, college of education and secondary school graduates, but no where for these graduates to work. Immediately they pass out of NYSC ( youth corp ) their frustration has already started. Their parents who sponsored them throughout the period of their studies will now be going through pains as their wards can not assist them for their effort in providing financial sponsorship during the period of studies at school. That is the reality in Nigeria.

The Ajaokuta steel company in Kogi state and the Delta steel company in Delta state are dead long ago since the era of President Shehu Shagari ever since then, government come in and go with all their lofty promises with nothing fulfilled, nobody is thinking about bringing the steel industry to life so that our young school leaver can find a place to work after their parent have invested so much money on their education. Buhari promise to the Nigerian electorate during the 2015 Presidential election that if elected he would revive the Ajaokuta Steel Company were all fake as the federal government 2 years under APC leadership has no roadmap on ground to bring that steel complex into limelight. It was empty promises, unkempt!

The other day, Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa state who is owing several months salaries to civil servants, teachers etc in Bayelsa state lavished the hard earned revenue accrued to Bayelsa state on the government offices he built. He even went and invite General Yakubu Gowon to come and commission government offices thereby wasting public funds entrusted in his care.

As if that is not enough, Governor Seriake Dickson is presently building a University of Africa in Toru Orua in Bayelsa state, another drain pipe and wastage of public funds. why not build companies or encourage chinese companies to invest in Industries in Bayelsa state instead of building governor office or government offices all white elephant project which is just there to promote the comfort of the rich politicians.

Governor Dickson even went and invite Barister Muktar Shagari, Ex-minister of Water Resources and the son of former Nigeria President Alhaji Shehu Shagari to come and grace his white elephant project.

If I may ask, Governor Dickson, what is wrong with the Niger Delta University that is established by the Late Ex-Governor of Bayelsa state, Diepreye Solomon Peter Alamieyeseigha.

Why not upgraded the University and that will save a lot of funds that can be channeled into other project in the state. It is just a question of some expansion year and there, change some little infrastructure and add some more departments.

Ex-Governor Adams Oshiomole of Edo state also wasted funds by establishing another Edo state University in his native, Iyamho community in Estako Area of Edo state ( Edo North )

The former governor of Edo state not minding the dwindling revenue coming to the Edo state treasury went on to invest in another state university just because he want to satisfy his Estako people in Edo north that they should also have a university. Even in the Edo north, there are university such as Samuel Adegboyega University, the state University, Ambrose Ali University, the federal polytechnic -Auchi Polytechnic.

Ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo and his Vice President, Abubakar Atiku all owned Personal and Private University as part of their business empire.
Obasanjo former Nigeria President and former military head of state went and establish Bell University in Ogun state and his ex-vice president, Atiku Abubakar also went and establish ABTI ( American University of Nigeria )

Our politician knows quite alright that this university is not viable and they can not stand the test of time but because of their greed for money and longer throat for wealth they went and establish university. Some went to establish university just to rival their political opponent.

In Botswana and South Africa, that country has fewer University and these countries and their universities is well rated.

In Europe, America and Asia, government create massive jobs for the school leavers and the graduate is immediately recruited as soon as he graduate out of school.

Our leaders have a long way to go in their selfish, greedy way of doing things.

Melaye have joined the queue and many more politicians are waiting to establish university in their own community.

We need more Dangote, Femi Otedola, Adenuga, Ibru, Abiola etc to establish companies, industries and not this so called mushroom university.

Most of this university graduate are not even fit for work because it is theory and handout that they use in teaching the student. There is less emphasis on practicals as we see in developed countries like Germany, Holland, South Korea, India etc

If your representatives are not effective, start the move to call them back even though our rotten judiciary won't make it possible.

How many federal university does Kogi State wanna have? Even the few on ground, they can't maintain them well, I think we need good roads more in Kogi.

Students of Uniport demonstrates peacefully, calling on the Federal Govt to come to their aid against the "NO SCHOOL FEES/ NO RESULT policy implemented by the Vice-chancellor without consent of the students.

Appealing in their numbers for re-opening of the portal which have been shut down despite letters and appeal from the students.

The current situation is that the first semester exam scripts of students who were unable to pay were not marked and currently have no result.
HOD's have even been advised by the school authorities to compel their students to pick deferment forms which ends tomorrow at the cost of #15000.

This issue has caused breakdown of students..we call on Federal Govt and wellmeaning Nigerians to come to our aid

It is instructive to note that the first reading of this bill came up December 2016. Moreover, the Kabba - Ilorin road has been awarded and Kabba - Obajana road is under construction. kudos to our able senator.

Two federal universities is not too much for us, remember Kogi share boundaries with 10 states and there is a great influx of students seeking admission from these state into Kogi.
Besides, this new one is Agric university.
The one in Lokoja was to be sited in Kabba(upgrading this current ABU college of agric), but Governor Ibrahim Idris hijacked it to lokoja, because he was not on the same page with the senator(Smart Adeyemi) that's represented then.
