A fast rising Naija rap act who goes by the name David Iye Odey but popularly known by his stage name “Boogey” has alleged that not all freestyles are spontaneous. According to him, some acclaimed freestyles are handwritten lyrics.

The general knowledge about freestyle is that it is unplanned. It is believed to be more like a play out prompted by a spur of the moment. Over the years, many Nigerian artistes have been applauded for their freestyle prowess, as fans believed that their lyrics were not pre-planned or written and crammed beforehand. But that wasn’t always the case.

This Nigerian rapper, Boogey, threw more light on the subject of freestyle in a recent interview where he noted that some freestyles are handwritten. This supposes that most musicians who dropped freestyles had written and crammed their lines beforehand and were simply reciting them to their audience. I am sure this never crossed your mind.

So, there is every possibility that your favorite musical act who you believed was the king of freestyle, already had his lines in his head before mounting the stage to create the impression you have of him. Would you call that a scam
