As I remember it, Aguiyi had two bodyguards on the fateful day, one of southern extractions dn the other from the north. The northern one betrayed him while the southern was arrested and later escaped unharmed. He did nothing at all but that is not his fault. There was nothing he could do.

So in fact neither of the ADC's you referenced could save their principal.
