Of recent, Trezzyhelm blog reported that the International president Jewish voice ministries, Rabbi Jonathan Bernis and his team stormed Nnewi to present confirmatory and DNA tests on the claims that the Igbo's are of Israel descent.

The blog further stated that according to the DNA result, it has been scientifically proven that the igbos are from Israel, from the clan of Gad precisely.

Naij and other blogs picked up the news and made it viral.

But close sources had it that the news was false. On Saturday 5th of AUG 2017, people were gathered at Messianic faith Assembly, Nnewi at 9am expecting the team. On arrival of the team late in the evening, their hopes were shattered on hearing that there was no match.

Sources had it that some group of persons were desperate for the result to positive in order to be granted "law of return" by the state of Israel. But Igbo historians warned them that it was impossible for them to get a positive result as the true DNA of ancient Israel are lost.

Naja Chinyere Njoku, an African American that traced her root to Igbo and a DNA expert has to say on seeing the news:

"There is NO scientific way to determine that the Igbos are the descendants of Gad. There MUST be someone with Gad's DNA to compare it to. We are waiting these results... "

Those of us that KNOW DNA testing and how people can try to manipulate the data in their favor...We are waiting...
We would love to see this DNA evidence."

"In order to PROVE someone is a descendant of Gad, you must have Gad's DNA as a data source reference. Where is it? EVERY Igbo that we have DNA tested so far are 100% African. We have tested YDNA, MtDNA and autosomal DNA. What DNA test did they use at FTDNA? If it is only the YDNA, how many markers were tested? What is the defining information that made them come to this conclusion. There are several teams awaiting these results so they can be VERIFIED with reliable sources. We want to know if any of this so called DNa came from COLONIZATION during the time of slavery when our people were raped by Europeans and taken advantage of or if it is ancient DNA. Please share the evidence."

She further said "And PLEASE again, tell me where this GAD DNA came from for people to compare it with? The current day Europeans that call themselves Jews are RELIGIOUS CONVERTS, not the Genetic Descendants of ancient people that were called by those names."

The question should be "what is the point of contact between Gad and the Igbos?

1. Eri
It is a historical fact accepted by ancient Igbo kingdoms that there was a being called "Eri" in Igbo land.

Nri Kingdom in Anambra State had a strong claim that the entire Igbo race originated from them. According to Nri mythology, Eri descended from the sky, sent by Chukwu to make peace (settle disputes and cleanse abominations) and provide Igbo people food (yam and cocoyam).

Nri's royal founder, Eri , is said to be a 'sky being' that came down to earth and then established civilization.
Eri, the god-like founder of Nri, is believed to have settled the region around 948, with other related Igbo cultures following after in the 13th century.

Of recent, many scholars from Nri have accepted Eri was a man and not a sky being.

2. Eri Kingdom, which is in the present day Aguleri in Anambra have always maintained that Eri was a man. Scholars had it that Eri on arrival through Omambala river went further hinterland and settled at Obuga (now Obu-Gad) in Enugwu Aguleri. Eri gave birth to five children namely, Agulu-Eri (now Aguleri), Oba, Igbo, Menri (the father of Nri) and Adamgbo (the only daughter and the mother of Umu-ulu-Eri (Umuleri, now Umueri). So many other communities have their root from the five children of Eri.

The Eri kingdom strongly holds that man does not fall from the sky, prompting their inquest to know the origin of Eri.

Researchers therefore traced the root to Gad the 7th son of Jacob, Israel. The facts were compelling as to why an ancient house with a throne and an inscription written on the floor, is called "Obuga". Obu means house. Therefore the "Obuga" was a corruption of the name "Obu-Gad", which means the " house of Gad". Eri built the house in memorial of his father Gad. This is where the custom of Igbos building Obu stemmed from. This same house holds the stool of the ancient dynasty of Eri kingdom which has produced thirty four (34) kings.

Another facts are the names and traditions of the Igbo looking similar with that of the account of ancient Israel of the bible. And so many other facts which have been recorded and written on by scholars. Visit Aguleri to see more.

In conclusion, i urge every Igbo man to carryout a research on the name "Eri", as well as Arodi and Areli to represent the Arochukwu's claim. This would solve the mystery about Igbo origin. If you have any other history different from Eri, please do share. For instance, Igbo-ukwu accepts that their father is " Igbo". Where is the man called Igbo from? Can anyone give me an answer to that?

Also, DNA is not an option yet until the DNA of the "ancient Israelites" are found.

Shlomo Sand’s The Invention of the Jewish People alleges that a historical "Jewish people" does not exist and that the bulk of Jewry today descends from converts, rather than from the inhabitants of pre-Roman Judea.
