Those two tug boats and Port Support did a great job... By the way which helicopter can fight such fire that moment?

Do you know the meaning of bunkering at all? undecided

Illegal activities close of Quay side in broad day light? Smh

It's either the vessel came to discharge cargo at Port

Modified: Divine Mercy is an oil/Chemical tanker... She was discharging flammable liquid (Probably AGO or PMS) and probably all safety precautions was ignored..

That's why on board a ship while carrying out bunkering activities.. there's always a checklist before starting Operation.. i guess all safety checks was ignored..

Fire onboard a ship is very disastrous ... Especially when it happens at high sea

tnx for the info

Nigeria government officials doing bunkering while using the owners of the resources as scapegoats.

The gods of the sea have caught up with corrupt politicians stealing Biafra resources.

Guy calm down, checklist is not fail proof.
They are so many things that could go wrong.
That vessel is at quayside, consider hotworks going on within the area, consider the hose snapping and rubbing off the couplings on the bulwark, if you look carefully you would see the large free board indicating a lesser draft at the time of the incident meaning the tanker vessel is almost empty of products, that fire could have been from another source external to that vessel.

Kudos to MV OTUOKE, but your Fifi pumps are not powerful enough, it's obvious the hydrants couldn't rotate 180• hence they were Fifi astern thereby endangering their own vessel. The capt was just ready to Leggo any moment grin

Even the cargoes.
Cargoes are insured from source, not ship owners baby to carry, sometimes it depends on what the contract of affreightment says. Nevertheless, the cargoes are far less important in value when compared to the hull and machinery cost of the vessel.

This should be carelessness on the part of the crew on board the tanker vessel in the course of the discharging operations anyway thank God no life was lost.
But that guy running the commentary will be good for Nigeria league matches oooo!!! Abeg somebody should quickly do the needful by dragging him to NPFL jarey.

Are you beliving that Nigeria politicians in government don't do illegal bunkering simply because they are hiding behind government protection?

Well we don't know the cause of the fire.... And who knows maybe one of their crew smoking on deck.. (Because I've seen lot of Indians and Pakistani crew smoking while bunkering activities is going on)
