The Picture below Is That Of A Road In Owodokpokpo Community, Igbide Kingdom, Isoko South LGA of Delta State.

Just So You Know, This Community Has 26 Oils Wells, But This less Than 4 Kilometres Road Is Left Alone In Such Horrible Sight.

The chiefs in the community probably prefer taking the money as cash which they eventually use in buying houses in Abuja and overseas to the detriment of basic infrastructure in their communities.

Let's be sincere with our comments. I believe that 3rd main land bridge etc, wasn't given to the Obas to construct.

While the youths are busy stealing oil and blowing pipelines instead of holding their leaders accountable they blamed their backwardness on the Federal government and the north.

What's do your governors and local governments do. It should be obvious top down development from center won't address these street level issues. NDDC seems to have pretty lame track record like it's predecessor agencies.

In your statement, you reveal everything that is wrong with so much of the Niger Delta. Isn't the handing over of huge sums to all these "chiefs" because of the agitations of all the "youths" [sic] who blow up pipelines? Why not focus on holding your chiefs accountable then, seeing as they are your own kinsmen? Of course, it's so much easier to continue to blame faraway forces than to lay blame at the feet of local bigwigs driving over potholed roads in Mercedes Benz saloons ....

Federal Allocation to Delta State Govt..

13% derivation

Delsopadec

Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs

NDDC

Paris Loan Refund

Bailout Funds..

Etc..

If we cannot get help from any of these sources around us, then maybe we deserve to continue in perpetual suffering while blaming the north and excusing our failed leaders.

Then you obviously have no clue the kind of stinking greedy politics that goes on with community development funds at the local level. You cant expect the federal govt to be responsible for development of minor roads in villages do you?

My brother na you get time they reply the hypocrite..Nigeria is bult on falsehood and deciet.Have you asked yourself why the yorubas and the gambaries are against dovision? simple tgey are the major beneficiaries of this fraudulent entity.believe me tye yorubas will never allow the trash am seeing in that pix called roads if they are a large oil producer like down south. They see igbos as a conqured people and the south souty as there spoils of war thats why tuey plunder your resources without impunity.
Asari has made ckear that Nija does not belong to yhe east or south but the hausas and tje yorubas.but painfully our people fail to see all this..The north control the oil sectores, allow the yorubs to house their headquater and collect taxes, they allow our seaports in warri, sapela, onne and calanar to die but keep on sighni g more contracts for additional seaport in badahry and lagos..Today the seaports in lagos are overwelmed and instesd of them to divert tfaffic they cjoose to destoy houses and bild bonded terminals..Today lagos is filled up and ogun is benefitting as a result of this cheatting arrangments.so that is why you got such silly reply from the poor fellow cos is an already laid rhetoric they will reply us whenever we raise topics like this.

Exactly!! You hit the nail on the head. cheesy All oil companies have Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Programmes, through which they provide the community in which they operate various amenities, ranging from schools, to hospitals to agricultural assistance.

Not only that, your state govt gets 13% derivation from proceeds of oil exploration activities in such communities. sad Such funds are meant for development. Please go and hold your traditional ruler and his chiefs very well, and tell them to produce the money. angry

Also get a very sharp lawyer to write to the oil producing companies in your region, to carry out CSR Programmes for your community, including rehabilitation of the road. wink

Finally, lead a delegation to your state governor in the Govt. House, and ask him to account for your community's share of the 13% derivation proceeds, which is meant to have been spent on your community. Chikena! undecided

Like I said earlier, a lot of people have no clue the kind of politics that is played with development funds in the Niger Delta. There's hardly anything much the FG can do from Abuja besides releasing the host community funds to state governments who in turn are in direct contact with leaders of the communities. A lot of people need to be informed of the kind of blackmail and scheming the leaders of those communities engage in with the state govermments to ensure the money is paid to them directly instead of being used for development. The blackmail includes most of the pipeline bombings you hear about....

And of course, the day the FG decides to stop paying those moneys to the states and to the community leaders' personal acccounts, then you will know the true meaning of pipeline bombings... To start with, are you aware the 13% derivation given to oil producing states is actually meant for development of oil producing communities? ... is there any oil producing state governor that observes that?
