Good development But my question is always, why waiting for outsiders to come and discover stuff in our backyard when we have research centres with PhDs and Profs.

Imagine our children reading in history books that China discovered iron ore in Cross River Nigeria as if we be mumu

Our Professors and PhDs are only good in embezzling money meant for research and School administration.
Their pot belly won't even allow them bend down to drill or explore the land.

Hmm that's surprising they found iron or so close to surface. The Chinese discovered something locals didn't notice. Anyway they should find out purity of ore and if it's commercial quantity.

I can believe this. Look at this discovery all they needed was a shovel and few magnets probably.

Or maybe at least a few of the locals did notice, but they also realised there was nothing they could do with such knowledge, as the FG claims ownership of all mineral resources. Under such a system, only highly valuable metals like gold are worth taking the illegal route for, and even then, only to the extent no serious investment is required to dig for them.

So much unexplored wealth, without any equivocation, I bet you illegal mining would begin in earnest,

If only the ajaokuta steel mill could have a boisterous resuscitation, our leapfrog into industrialization would be a reverberating tsunami.

Reputed to be one of the largest in sub-saharan Africa, still lying fallow in detoriation and wallowing in decadence,
Despite painstaking efforts of successive administrations, the distasteful situation have become inexplicably irredeemable.

There were replete issues of unsubstantiated grand conspiracy to keep the plant unproductive,
But however, it was also alleged that the company was concesssioned to Indian firm, and the government tried taking back it's full ownership, which left it in legal battles for a couple of years,

Even as the original Russian contractors of the complex were denied the opportunity of completing and reviving the ailling complex, despite several attempts of indicating interest,

The insinuations of foreign importers of steel loosing their market, hence the detrimental moribund status of the plant, means more profit for importers.

Not too long we heard minister of mines and steel fayemi was instrumental to settling the legal case hanging on the neck of the company.

Work on ajaokuta - warri - lagos rail line had begun,
So what is still bedevilling the success of the complex?

phd and other academic qualifications in Nigeria is just for show, most phd holders don't even know what their qualifications means.

Some graduates got their first and second degree just to improve their job prospect, not that they wanted to solve any problems.
