Barely two weeks after 80 underage inmates were pardoned by Chief Judge of Lagos state, Justice Funmilayo Atilade, the state government has disclosed that the freed teenagers have begin processes of reuniting them their parents which include undergoing psychiatric test.

The teenagers were released by Atilade as part of prison decongestion exercise and after they served substantial number of days behind bars at Badagry prisons.

After their release, the children were immediately accommodated by the state government at Oregun Correctional Home for Boys, Lagos, in order to give them appropriate care.

The need for the test and care were revealed by Commissioner for Youths and Social Development, Uzamat Akinbile-Yusuf, during a visit to the home yesterday.

She disclosed that the children had since their arrival at the centre been subjected to series of tests including psychiatric test to ascertain the level of their mental alertness and sanity.

Akinbile-Yusuf further hinted that some of the children who have been able to provide traceable details about their residences, parents or family members have been reunited to their relatives.
