Being on top of the tech brand table is not as easy as people see it. It involves a constant practice of being more and more flexible to the needs of country specific regulators.
Not long ago, Apple was forced to remember that, an Indian telecom regulatory body, the telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has filed Apple for its refusal to allow a custom made do-not-call app to be installed on iOS devices sold in the country.

Times of India reports that the country’s regulatory body is not happy with the way apple is dragging the issue,’ While Google‘s android supports our do-not-disturb app DND app, apple has just been discussing, and discussing and discussing. They have not done anything,’ TRAI chairman R.S Sharma told the times.’ ‘They are anti-consumer and they are really not caring for their customers who could have been saved from pesky calls and unwanted messages’.
A DND app is simply an app that allows the user to block certain unwanted calls and messages, but it does this by using the user’s call logs and message history, a method which apple thinks might undermine the iPhone’s security.

There have been reports that Apple has not really looked into implementing the feature, and as TRAI chairman says only’ discussing and discussing’.
It is worth knowing that this is not the first time this year that apple has been forced to bend to new rules by regulators, the Chinese government forced them to ban all VPN applications in its Apple app store, having no choice they decided to do it rather than been thrown out of China like Facebook and Google. India is just using this opportunity to also force them to introduce its DND app to their store or risk being thrown out.
