The Igbo National Council (INC) has given the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Burutai, a 21-day ultimatum to end the recently launched ‘Operation Python Dance II’ and withdraw his men from the Southeast region.

This was made known in a statement issued to newsmen in Owerri by its National President, Chilos Godsent.

The release also warned that it would sue the Nigeria Army to the International Criminal Court, (ICC) for genocide against the Southeast region, if its demand was ignored.

The statement reads: “In view of the above, the Igbo National Council, INC, has analysed the state of the Southeast and the Nigerian state and hereby state the following.

“The Nigeria state is not at war with the people of South-East Nigeria, and therefore wish to call on the president and Commander in Chief of Armed Forces.

“The leadership of the National Assembly to mandate the Minister of Defence staff, Chief of Army Staff, to immediately withdraw the military arbitrarily deployed to Southeast to murder innocent civilians.

“If this is not adhered to within twenty one days (21) the Igbo National Council, INC, will petition and also sue the Nigeria Army and the Federal government, to International Criminal Court, ICC, for genocide against the armless people of the southeast Nigeria.”

Why give them 21 day? Isn't it too long? The operation may have had 2 weeks life span

Besides, when they use the word withdraw, it's as if the state of South East is a sovereign state and not part of Nigeria.

They are threatening a government for deploying troops to its sovereign territory. The Hague will laugh at their stupidity.

Congratulations to Southeasterners, your territory just got occupied by military forces. The next step of the federal government is to declare a state of emergency in the east.
