Fellow Nairalanders, dis thread became pertinent wen it became obvious ppl still fall for d antics of cheap scammers.. They offer outrageous deals across all ntwrks in their colourful adverts. Naturally it doesn't take much to know dey are scams but ppl still fall for it daily and ruining things for every other legit reseller in here.

l have actually taken it upon myself to report any such scam ads and accounts to d mods but these scammers aren't resting and more accts clearly by d same ppl kip springing up.

Nairalanders, below are a few of their ads, methods and potential precautions to avoid being scammed by dem. All some of us want is to provide an affordable alternative to what d ntwrk offers.

1. D obviously too gud to b true redflags..

All d colourful ads above have one thing in common, d offers are too gud to b true and are all scams. If any offer is too gud to b true it is very likely its a scam. Every reseller buys from d ntwrk and except he now generates his own data , anyone offering u data of 5gb for 1k is simply a thief.

2. D Data Resellers Offer...

This is d more complicated one. People fall fall these ones becos dey offer basically d same thing as what every other reseller offers so it's hard to detect if proper and necessary precautions are not taken. They advertise d same rates and data jus like everyone else and simply disappear once payment has been received or even send fake messages of data transfer.

PRECAUTIONS

We all have to b careful and ask some necessary questions before going ahead to patronize and make payments. We shldnt b shy to ask for any proof of legitimacy of such data. They shld b able to provide one form of proof and in realtime. In realtime here means wateva proof d reseller is sending u has to b as at d tym u are online and chatting with dem. Anyone showing u a proof with a timestamp dat indicates in d morning or a previous date is probably not being truthful.

Secondly ur profile says a lot about u. Anyone who has nothing to hide shldnt need to open a new account for his business. Most of d legit data resellers run their businesses using their accounts and as such are active members of dis noble forum. We shld do well to see how active their accounts have been.

I believe we can stamp out these nitwits and Neva do wells who are bent on ruining dis platform for resellers and all nairalanders on d long run. These may not completely flush dem out because dey evolve with new tactics daily but it will go a long way to reduce their activities. I intend to make dis a long running thread
