Is it our problem that Christianity has no framework for finance except for 'try to form something as you go'?

All over the world, people are learning to embrace Islamic finance models but here in Nigeria, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) is only available to try to protest the manifestation of the fact that majority of the country has Muslims.

They claim Nigeria is a secular state, yet, in the second stanza of the national anthem, we start with 'O God of creation'.

The ignorant ones refuse to understand that we are a multi-religious country. #ShameOnThem

I Can't remember last when our lingua franca changed to maybe islamic language. Did u expect it to read 'O ALLAH of creation'? its not bad but then all the anthem has to be translated to arabic. you and ur ilk have to review the constitution to make our official language to be arabic. must we copy islamic banking model? take or leave it, it is what CAN called it. it is backdoor activity.

Your illiteracy is staggering.

Do you know the difference between a Secular state to that of an Atheist State?

A secular state relegates religion as a an individual venture and does not promote any creed above the other.

In a secular state, religious freedom is guaranteed.

In an Atheist state, religion is banned!

To the crux of the matter...

CAN is right to condemn the FG's insistence on pushing Islamic banking.

Apart from going against the secular status of Nigeria, the FG is unduly giving this whole Islamic banking thing undue patronage and subsidy to the detriment of other commercial banks.

You see how dubious you are. How does Sukuk prevent you from practising your religion?

As for your trying to differentiate between a Secular and Atheist state, save it for CAN #LOL

Even in the countries that brought Christianity to CAN members, Islamic finance is expanding rapidly.

So, the problem is dubious people like you trying to be intellectual about their bigotry.

It is a mission doomed to fail.

As a Christian, I say unequivocally, CAN does not and will never speak for me. To me, they are a bunch of corrupt and shameless hate mongers.

CAN keeps getting it wrong, sukuk will not replace the normal interest driven bond, but merely an option for those who may not to deal on interest.

CAN needs to get into a more positive vibe instead of fear mongering and divisive rhetorics.

I think you should tread with caution
you raised valid points but in a wrong way. Moreover Nigeria of today isn't a Muslim majority state. There are no records that says so.

Does it have to be done by the Federal govt. If private individual say Dangote opens a sukuk abi Suzuki microfinance bank is it bad?

The constitution is against the govt (state or federal from institutionalizing religious based laws or enterprise (which the adoption of sharia law by some states violates by the way)

You must think we are brainwashed illiterate muslims also. Why go for sukuk in the name of a nation where everybody doesn't by into sukuk?
The stupid pattern of excuse you guys always use seek political domination is to claim the actions of others (infidels) restricts you guys from practising your religion.
Re: CAN Has Come Again With Its Dubious Ignorance And Misinformation by Nobody: 2:05pm On Sep 22, 2017
This nation still has serious talk ahead ooo. Do the Muslims want to be ruled under Islamic laws or by a secular constitution. This background islamisation won't work. Tunji, please come straight, do you want an Islamic republic of Nigeria? Let's say our mind abeg.

Christians are not against Muslims having an Islamic nation but we would not be part of that nation. Simple!

CAN is right to condemn the FG's insistence on pushing Islamic banking.

Apart from going against the secular status of Nigeria, the FG is unduly giving this whole Islamic banking thing undue patronage and subsidy to the detriment of other commercial banks.

A bank is a bank regardless the name or religion you attache to it.

The bank in question is a private bank, it's not owned or control by the FG so exactly what is secular or not about a private business enterprise?

Is there a law within the Nigerian constitution that says Muslims or Christians should not be allowed to open private banks or start a private enterprise that caters to members of their faith?

Is there a law within the Nigeria constitution that says Christians can not start any Christian themed banks in Nigeria?

Is the Federal Government Of Nigeria making or forcing you and Nigerians to patronize any religious bank or private business in Nigeria?

In America where you borrowed democracy from including separation of church and state, they have Islamic banks all over the place and even their JP Morgan, one of or if not the largest bank in America offer Islamic banking services aka Sharia-compliant banking services to tap into the $3 trillion Islamic banking system.

What you are cryig over is a private business that you don't have to participate in or patronize and you have every right under the sun to start your own Christian bank, this is the meaning of secular, not the ignorance, religious bigotry, religious fear and paranoia you and your foolish, jobless, usless and odious CAN friends are selling.

It is your right as a Nigrian to patronize any brand of banking system you desire even if they are religion themed banks if their business model and terms applies to your personal and immediate needs.

Is it by force to patronize your so called main stream commercial banks that doesn't sertisfy my financial needs? What kind of backward reasoning is this anyway?

You have no business labelling other people illiterrate since you obviously doesn't know the meaning of SECULAR.

Were we colonised by the Arabs? We were colonised by the British that is why English is our official language today.

The truth is that Nigeria has no business with Arabic writings on our currency or military flags.

We were not colonised by Arabs. If you Muslims want an Islamic state we would gladly let you have it.

Nonsense.
