SAFETY PRECAUTIONS DURING A THUNDER-STORM

Monitor Forecasts and weather conditions and know whether thunderstorms are likely in the area.

Be alert for natural signs of an approaching storm.

Cancel or reschedule outdoor events (to avoid being caught outdoors when a storm hits).

Take action early so you have time to get to a safe place.

Get inside a substantial building or hard-topped metal vehicle before threatening weather arrives.

If you hear thunder, get to the safe place immediately.

Avoid open areas like hilltops, fields, and beaches, and don't be or be near the tallest objects in an area when thunderstorms are occurring.

Don't shelter under tall or isolated trees during thunderstorms.

If in the woods, put as much distance between you and any trees during thunderstorms.[84]

If in a group, spread out so that you increase the chances for survivors who could come to the aid of any victims from a lightning strike.

Take action immediately upon hearing thunder. Anyone close enough to the storm to hear thunder can be struck by lightning.

Avoid electrical appliances, including corded telephones. Cordless and wireless telephones are safe to use during a thunderstorm.

Close and stay away from windows and doors, as glass can become a serious hazard in high wind.

Do not bathe or shower, as plumbing conducts electricity.

If driving, safely exit the roadway, turn on hazard lights, and park. Remain in the vehicle and avoid touching metal.

and you think all these will protect you when your village people decide to visit? gal thanks for copying and pasting shows how industrious you will be in the future

As a physicists, let me educate you. The speed of light is 3×10^8m/s while that of sound is 340m/s.

Both lightning and thunder (the sound you hear) occurs at same time, but due to the difference in speed, you see the light first. It's called lightning and not thunder.

The voltage in lightning is in hundreds of thousands which is why it dries up whatever on its path. I expected that young man to turn black.

Thunder Fire you doesn't work in Nigeria because we are not saying the right thing. Just tell someone "Lightning fire you" and see how fast it will work.
You can survive a lightning strike...It's rare but people survive it.

You are right though. Thunder is just a sonic boom. However, "thunder fire you" sounds more intimidating than "lightning fire you"...prolly because all mythologies associated it with power.

From Zeus/Jupiter to Thor to Sango to Amadioha...all are gods of thunder even though it's actually lightning they strike with...

Lightning kills, not Thunder. Thunder only produces loud sound.

A lightning strike delivers a whopping 300 kilovolts, according to the NASA Science website. Electrical currents from lightning strikes have a shorter duration than industrial shocks, averaging a few milliseconds per strike. When a human gets exposed to a lightning strike, an external flashover occurs wherein the electrical current passes over the surface of the body. This can result in burns, mostly in the upper and lower body, specifically the head, shoulders and neck. Injury can also occur from the lightning bolt's making the victim fall or throwing him through the air. Immediate death from a lightning strike is usually attributed to cardiac or cardiopulmonary arrest.
You're right on all counts except in saying Thunder produces loud sounds. Thunder doesn't produce loud sounds, lightning does. Thunder is the sound that lightning produces for going beyond the Mach 1.

Yes there are survivors but with severe injury...no one get struck by lightning and remain the same after...about 10% to 30% die from lightning strike while the rest live with a severe injuries.....

Thunder will always strike the tallest item in a vicinity,
it could be a tree, could be a person holding an ☂️ umbrella and it could be a tall guy walking in an open area without trees. It's pure science. That's why we have conductors on expensive buildings to prevent them from been a Target for thunders!

Showing his corpse is very tasteless, undignifying, unnecessary, and taints the memory of the deceased.

Thunder, in quite simple terms, is the sound of lightning. It's like the sound of a gunshot. You will hear it but it can't kill you. It's the lightning, just like the bullet, that kills.
