Arsenal v Brighton: Premier League preview
Arsenal host Brighton at the Emirates on Sunday.

Arsene Wenger’s side beat West Brom 2-0 last Monday, a scoreline that somewhat flatters the Gunners. West Brom were denied a clear penalty in the first half, while Arsenal were wrongly awarded one of their own in the second.

The Gunners were also in midweek action, traveling to Belarus for their Europa League tie against BATE Borisov. Wenger rotated heavily, as Alexis Sanchez and Alexandre Lacazette, among others, were given the night off.

Arsenal won 4-2 and are expected to play a completely different team this Sunday. Jack Wilshere and Reiss Nelson impressed for the Gunners in the Europa League.

Brighton picked up their second win of the season last weekend. Tomer Hemed scored in the second half to give Chris Hughton’s side a 1-0 win over Newcastle.

An unlikely win for the visitors would see them move level with Arsenal.

Mesut Ozil could start alongside Sanchez and Lacazette for the first time.

Danny Welbeck remains sidelined with a groin injury. The forward is targeting a return after the international break.

Calum Chambers will also miss out with a groin problem, while Francis Coquelin and Alex Iwobi are ruled out with thigh injuries.

Santi Cazorla’s return “won’t be before Christmas” according to Wenger.

Tomer Hemed will serve the first of a three-match ban after the FA upheld his charge of violent conduct. The Israeli striker was spotted stamping on the leg of Newcastle’s DeAndre Yedlin last weekend.

Chelsea loanee Izzy Brown could get his chance in Hemed’s absence.

Glenn Murray will be touch-and-go as he recovers from ankle ligament damage.

Sunday’s game will come too soon for Sam Baldock and Beram Kayal who are out with calf injuries.

Former Arsenal youth player Steve Sidwell is a long-term absentee with a back injury.
