Available
The pre-stage of domain lifecycle is when it is not registered by anyone and is available. Research is the key here!
Registered
Once registered, you are officially the owner of the domain name for 1-10 years. Congratulations!
Expires If Not Renewed
Within 24 hours of the expiration date, the domain name is deactivated. Your website and email won’t be working at the time.
Enters Renewal Grace Period
This stage lasts 30 days, (occasionally more depending on the registrar’s policies but better don’t risk it). You can still renew the domain name for its regular price.
If Not Renewed, It Enters Redemption Period
After the grace period is over, the domain enters Redemption period for 30 days; you’d have to pay $100 or more to get back your domain.
After Redemption, It Enters Pending Delete
Once the Redemption period is over, the domain enters the Deletion period. It lasts up to 5 days; during this period your domain name gets deleted. There is nothing you can do about it!
After Pending Delete
After the domain is deleted from the registries, it becomes available to be registered again, and its lifecycle restarts. Yet, you have to face potential competitors here since the domain name can be registered by anyone!
