The NLC and Trade Unions are very weak nowadays and that's why the FG messes with agreements. It was during Adams Oshiomhole era that we last had something with a semblance of a Trade Union. Poverty don shrink people finish, therefore if FG hala, den go Panic or if FG dey Kind to them, FG go throw 1million naira and you'd see them reneging on Union's overall interest. 2 Likes |

This shows there are no labour unions in this country. They are all thieves especially the NLC national exco. This are the battles they should be fighting, not jamboree strikes where they can collect settlement and call off after 1 week. In a place like Benue state, workers haven't been paid for 7-12 months. In a country where bag of rice is 20k. This means a civil servant on 60k (level 7 or spends a third of his salary on only rice! His monthly pay cannot take him to the end of the month. This also means if an employer defaults for ONE month, his position as an employee becomes untenable. He is physically, emotionally and mentally unable to work. He is thus unable to work through no fault of his. His employer must pay him to mobilise his efforts to work. This is for just one month. Then you owe a worker for 1 YEAR and scare him with 'no work no pay'. An employer loses the moral ground in a trade dispute immediately he defaults in fulfilling his obligations to paying his workers, simple. 1 Like |

Workers pay money to their unions. If the Unions declare strikes, they should pay the WORKERS STRIKE PAY. 1 Like |

I wonder the law they will enforce on the government that refuse to pay salaries. Why are these politicians indirectly introducing SLAVERY into our system? You can enforce no work no pay, but you can't enforce jail term for any politician who refuse to pay owed salaries..... Rada rada of the century! 1 Like |

It's a good step. Strikes should only arise when all lifelines have been used and should not be frequent. What we see in Nigeria only happens in lawless countries. Go to the negotiation table. Strike affects the general public more. In PH here if agbero slap worker, strike. Why not arrest the agbero? |

Amhappy:You are on point.i totally agree with you.we need such strict rules to sanitize the nation.the government should extend it to the politicians also and try to reduce the wage bill so that capital expenses would increase.consumption does not develop a nation but investment. |

Only lazy people are complaining rule. The way strikes happen in Nigeria is too much. I'd fire these guys and put hungry youth to replace them. The youth unemployment rate is high and they'll gladly take your spot. If you aren't being paid of course you don't need to work. Are you a slave? |

suprisingly apc may still win the next election, even with all these anti-people's policies, because just like adolf hitler once said, { the fortunate thing for govt is that the people they lead don't think} especially in nigeria we seems to 've short memory. 1 Like |
