If truly Tinubu is a smart man, he will back Buhari if he choses to recontest. Anything other than that will be tantamount to playing penalty into throw-in.
With the kind of card the Igbos have been playing, I don't see them ever producing a president for this country again. They hate the Hausas and suspect every moves of the Yorubas (calling us Afonjas) so where will the votes come from?
the same place Buhari vote came from in 2015. Who will not vote for individual like Elumelu?

2019 don start in earnest... Name test run don start proper. PMB should go and rest. PDP and APC will scatter northern vote. A southerner and a middle-Beltan candidate likely in a new party.

I ve gone through most comments here and I ve seen that many think its was the south west that did the trick.
The real joker was the north central
They alone changed the dynamics that gave APC the win over PDP
Since 1966 the middle belt had always voted for the incumbent
Only in the last election did the middle belt vote against the incumbent

That's why the north knows that all they need to win is not the south west
But the middle belt and one geopolitical zone
Since the south west is a problem
They may move camp to the Niger delta
So all they need is the whole north
The middle belt
And one more geopolitical zone which may not be the igbos as they see that they ve lost the south east forever
The south west is bitter
So thier option will be the south south

Lol. 2015 was the first time the South-east did not support a winning candidate. The south west have been the ones losing political calculations since 1979.
You probably don't understand the dynamics of the Nigerian politics then. Even with Azikiwe's romance with the far North, way back, it didn't prevent the Igbos from being political second class citizens. If the South West have been the ones 'miscalculating', how come they have produced a President, a Vice and are still looking forward to the seat when the Igbos haven't at all?

From the get-go, the deciding factors have always been the North and primarily the South West.

Happy Sunday.

The North cannot bank on the South South because they know they would be left cold. The South South would rather go with someone from the South than with the North.

Again, the Niger Delta area is a no go area for the North, all thanks to neglect and Fulani activities.

Sanchez01:

This is a huge lie. The ACN delivered the leadership of the country to Buhari, via BAT. One cannot take this away, save you want to remain mischievous.

The CPC didn't get it right until it aligned with the ACN and the ACN at the time wasn't interested in the Presidency, but to pull the seat off of Jonathan's behind.

Should the SE fail to align properly, they would end at the receiving end for the umpteenth time. Sadly, it has never been a deciding factor in any national politics. The real tussle is usually in the South West as the North throws their weight religiously behind whoever. The last election shouldn't be forgotten so soon.
dude stop being deluded. Every region holds the key. Can a south western candidate win a presidential election if he wins the south west but loses the east and the north? The problem you people have is that you think you can win an election if you win the south west. When obj won his election he didn't win in the south west. If a northern candidate wins in the north he only needs of the south east, south south or south west to win the presidency. Every region is important. And the way the yorubas have burnt bridges you people can only win in the south east or south south if your candidate is running against buhari.

Like I said the joker is the middle belt
Those fools can swing both ways
As they are still seeing the Fulani's as a threat they must appease

I think when they said that Buhari was a man of integrity, what they meant is that he is a greedy person. I think the likes of Akande and Tinubu have realized that their benefit from the unholy union of ACN and CPC is too small compared to their input into making Buhari the president. Tinubu has tried to remain political correct but you can tell that he's not satisfied with the status quo and it is evident in his call for restructuring after a long hiatus.

Politics is not the way you're seeing it,so many things go on behind close doors, and don't ever say an Igbo man can't be President, nothing is impossible, they even have a better chance of becoming one now than ever before,A Tony Elumelu is a very good candidate that will appeal to everyone,by the way he's not a politician like the rest,Nigerians are tired of the old class, its time to change the norm.

The little I can deduce from this write is,Tony Elumele might be whom Tinubu will be backing come 2019,the write up seems ambiguous, but it takes a discerning mind to read between the lines,Tinubu is a very smart man,he knows Nigerians are tired of the old band wagon politicians, throwing a neutral but proven man with a youthful attraction into the political fray is a wise move,I watched the skit Obj did with Spiff, its not just an ordinary skit, its more of a subliminal message for the youths. These men are too sly, they know what they are doing.

No, we are not coming together. They were born to rule.

At least that was what the South West told them in 2015.

So, sai baba till 2023, then maybe Atiku takes over till 2031.

Happy Sunday.

The only Yoruba man to become president was placed there by a coalition headed by the north which prevented the choice of the Yoruba from becoming president. It was not a Yoruba victory a much as it was a spite on June 12. Igbo people have also produced the VP and we practically controlled GEJ's government. So we have been good politicians and the South-west have not played their game better than us.

Boss, you are right but we all know that politics is a game of numbers. Igbos need a change of mIndset for them to have a true sense of belonging in this country. To have an idea of how the average Igbo person view the Yorubas, just peruse their comments here on nairaland.
If they hate the Hausas and suspects every move of the yorubas, are they going to wake up their ancestors to come and vote for them?

Dele momodu writing again? I'm yet to understand the Co-relation between the baba Akande issue and Tony Elumelu here. That aside, who doesn't know that the marriage between CPC and ACN parties are that of the strange bed fellows? Tinubu is regretting and crying silently for allowing himself to be used by the gambaris but I can assure him that, with a better reformation and re-alliance with the better southerners, the north will fume from their mouths.
