A 25-year-old man, Ibrahim Usman,was on Monday sentenced to six months in jail by the karmo grade 1 area court Abuja for stealing a purse.

The judge, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq, however, gave the convict N10, 000 option of fine.
Sadiq advised the convict to desist from committing crime.

He said that the sentence would serve as deterrent to others.
Usman, who resides at Gwa-gwa Abuja, was convicted on a count charge of theft.
The convict, who pleaded guilty to the offence, begged the court to temper justice with mercy.
Usman said he committed the crime due to hunger.
