Inmates in the USA and some of these developed countries look very decent and clean. Their prisons are very clean and they take very good care of them.
So they may be able attract almost anybody, unlike Nigerian prisons.

I would have also said love can take you anywhere, and there is nothing wrong in a female prison warder falling in love with an inmate, if her love for him is genuine..
But what if the prison warder is already married,, and her family is perceived as an enviable one.??
She is the extreme emotional type of woman (you can imagine the type of choices she makes). She can't face the stigma of being flashed in the headlines as: "A married woman in love with a prison inmate. See the photos of her rich and handsome horseband"
Her extreme emotions can't swallow such shame

The prisoner isn't South African. He seems to dark. Maybe he's from Mozambique or other African countries. That might have compounded it for her due to the hatred for foreign Africans the native blacks have

Pictures are bad but a lot of people don't know. Always behave like an undercover in everything you do, you get to live longer and understand your surroundings and people better.
