The truth is, anyone with some founder ambitions and business acumen is likely to attract customers who would be willing to part with their money for the value promised. Though, starting and running tech businesses have become more complex, the very first thing you’ll want to figure out is, if you have a market, potential users/customers.

Bottom line: some money+ambition+idea may NOT equal adequate preparedness anymore in the tech business world. But deliberate moves will get you further, whether you’re a technical person or not. In fact, there are lots of scalable small tech businesses to invest in, but we would wager the top nine.

1. Internet Research
Are you a naturally curious person? Then, this business idea is perfect for you. With the vast amount of information available on the Internet, being able to know where to look and validate information is a profitable skill.

2. Blog Consulting
If you are an expert at blogging and love to explore blogging-related issues, a small business as a blog consultant could be a very lucrative business, allowing you to support all types of businesses and bloggers in getting their blogs up and running. Explore if this is the right business idea for you.

3. Data Training
Despite some of the “home-based business” scams that involve data entry work, there are a lot of legitimate opportunities available for data entry businesses. If you are a really good typist with an eye for detail, this may be perfect for you.

4. Computer Repair and Maintenance
Do you have a technical background? Do you understand how computers work? Yes? Then, a small business in computer repair and maintenance service could be a great idea for you. You can cater your services to one operating system, or support all major platforms.
5. IT Support
Understandably, many startups don’t have the budget to afford a full-time, in-house technical support team, making outsourced IT support a potentially lucrative business idea. You can provide network setup and maintenance services, data backup and recovery, and software installation and management. Depending on your clients’ needs, your services can also include security measures and mobile device management.

6. Web Design
Web designing can be profitable business. What more, trained and even self-taught web designers are in high demand in Nigeria. Go for it if you have what it takes to start a web design business.

7. Computer Training
If you are exceptionally savvy with computers, software and other devices, try this out. You can provide services that will not only help others, but boost their comfort level with technology.

8. Video Production
Video production and editing is growing in popularity for all types of businesses in Nigeria. All you need is an understanding of the technology behind video editing and how to use raw video footages to create video flows. A video production business is one great small business idea to consider.

9. Social Media Consulting
Social media is a powerful marketing tool, particularly for small businesses. If you are a social media expert and love helping others create their own social media presence, then you may be an excellent fit for a social media
