A socio-cultural group and the organisers of the 2017 Ifaki –Ekiti Day Celebration, Unique Club of Ifaki have introduced an award to reward as well as encourage community service across all board. The award tagged Community Gold Award (CGM) and designed to be given to every deserving individual who have greatly contributed to community development anywhere in the world irrespective of tribe and creed is positioned as one of the major events of the annual Ifaki-Ekiti Day Celebration.
Speaking on the initiative, the chairman of the organising committee of the event, Dayo Adetunmbi declared that the award will set another pace in the annual “Day” celebration which is now becoming more popular across the communities in the south-western part of Nigeria and most especially in Ekiti State.
“This unique award which is an initiative of Ifaki community for outstanding individuals irrespective of state of origin or nationality, but who have contributed greatly to community development is powered by Ifaki Unique Club in collaboration with the Ifaki Progressive Union. It is conceived to add a profound value to this year’s Ifaki Day celebration and set an enviable standard in promotion of community development and growth.”
“Eminent personalities irrespective of state of origin and nationalities will be recognised and awarded with the unprecedented community gold award. It is our belief that this will go a long way in encouraging individuals in contributing their quota no matter how small to the development of community in particular and mankind as a whole. Meanwhile, the identities and profiles of the recipients of the maiden award will be revealed as soon as possible accordingly.”
Ifaki Day celebration which is held annually is a socio-cultural forum where every indigene of Ifaki-Ekiti, in Ido-Osi Local Government Area of Ekiti State at home and abroad converges on the town in spirit of togetherness to fashion out ways to promote development of the town in all ramifications.
